Running boards

I have a 2006 F250 extended cab with the crappy black running boards. I want to take them off. How easy is it to take them off and how do I take them off? if I take them off, will there be any thing behind them that will look like bad or anything I can mount nicer running boards on? Can I sell them when their off? Thanks

Just crawl underneath with your socket (not sure what size) and undo the bolts, that easy. Any after market should bolt right to where you took the old ones off if it's for the same year, body style.

There are a lot of holes underneath which accept captured nuts for the running board brackets to bolt to. If you get a set of aftermarket running boards with the mount kit that are made for your truck they will bolt right on. You can't just take any old running board and bolt them up. Different year Ford Super Cab running boards/steps will bolt right on. I broke one of the running boards on my dads 03' so I replaced both with a set of new take off 2008 super duty running boards.

Don't throw the stock running boards away! Some of us warped members actually prefer them to aftermarket stuff.

The stock, ugly, black running boards work just great. You have to look past the looks and consider their good side. Sort of like people.....

Alot of guys on here would want to buy them. I do not think that you can get new factory ones anymore. Only aftermarket.

Aftermarket ones sell for about $300 without lights. $350 with lights. This would be for new one's of course.
