i know this is a worn out topic but i havent heard for sure whats needed to swap a 300 to a 460 with a manual transmission. Or is it possible to stick a transfer case on the rear of a 2 wheel drive c6 and is it easier on the swap
What year truck? You need different frame pearches and motor mounts, different bell housing, flywheel set up for a manual trans. As for the C6 you need a 4X4 C6 trans to bolt a t-xcase to it. You can not just bolt a t-case on a 4X2 trans. The out put shaft is different and I believe there are two different adapters for two different t-cases, 203 and a 205. The manual trans can be had in two models as well and they both have there own adapters.
Your best bet is to do what I did, to buy an entire truck with the features you want.
You get all the correct parts, gizmos, doodads and thngamabobbies that hold your project up and drive you crazy trying to find.
I paid $300 for a rusted out dented up '77 F-250, with a 460/C-6, and I will transplant it into my '66 F-100 with a 352 and C-6.
The 460 needs rebuilding, but I'll sell the power steering and other parts off of it and will make most of my $300 back.
