My van has been dropping out of lock up some lately(not all the time)...ran the codes and got a 29 and 56..do I need to replace the switch at the tail of the tranny and the one in the rear end?
speedo runs steady....though it has always been 15% off....so I guess I'll get a new VSS....
a friend owns a tranny shop did the codes for me...I checked the local Walmart, they don't carry the code readers any more...
If your truck has the speedo in the side if the trans you probably need a different gear color to compensate for something IE rear axle gear ratio change or different sized tires. Sort that out first before changing parts...If the gear is worn that will screwitup 2........
If you have changes the above tires or gear ratio and have the electronic dash you need to reset the speedo with the change or the trans will not work correctly as the PCM gets false info and tries to run with it in both cases.
picked up a VSS at NAPA for $29 and change...took about 10 minutes to change...everything seems to be alright now...thanks everyone for the advise...this is surely a great Forum!
