Towing with EOD Tranny

I have a E350 short school bus that I use to haul motorcycle stuff around with....also pull a two wheel trailer...should I keep the OD off or will it hurt to just let the tranny shift in and out of OD as needed?

I also have an E350 short bus, a 90 that I tow with everyday. The rear is about 3.54. The bus is loaded with tools, and the trailer weighs about 2000# average. I usually keep the od off with the trailer. I probably don't have too. When I forget it runs fine, but there are no hills around here, and it is not searching for a gear. If it is changing back and forth, take it out of od.

My owners manual says the OD button is for descending hills. I have heard it both ways. The E4OD was meant to tow with and if everything is right towing in OD shouldn't hurt anything. I have my best luck pulling hills at the RPM for the peak torque output of the engine, I select the gear for that.

The OD planetary is one of the upgrade parts in the later E4OD, I think, check me on that. So they did see a need to make it stronger.
