Well. I have been a proud owner of a 2003 Ford F250 Super Duty with a V10. This truck has been great. I have 38K miles on it know at I am still impressed with it. This truck is my first Ford. I drove GM's for years before the last two of them fell apart before 50K miles......I got lots of ribbing from my father who has been a Ford die hard for 20 years. So it shocked the heck out of me when he told me he traded his 2003 F-150 SC FX4 latiet with about 9K miles on it for a 2005 Dodge club cab with those god awful 20 inch rims on it.
OK OK to get to the srt10, He baught it at Topor Dodge in Chicopee, MA. So one night he told me they had a SRT10 there. I stopped by to take a look....He told me that I would be surprised but would not tell me any more. So when I got there I saw the SRT10 in the showroom of course. I really did not want to talk to any sales men. Just wanted to look at the truck. It is nice and it is really sharp looking.
Now to the surprise that my dad told me about. The sticker on the window was $47K..........what the heck $47K.......ok so it is a novelty.....then I looked closer.......then another $10K over for "adjusted market value" I think is how it was stated. So now I had to talk to a sales man. Yup indeed. This dealer is selling a $47K pickup truck for $10K OVER STICKER. Now I heard of supply and demand.......but what demand???? Who the heck would want to pay $57K for this thing?
I cant believe my father fell to the dark side and to make it worse, baught a truck with those yicky 20" wheels....and from a dealer who has the nuggets to price a vehicle $10k over sticker.
They do the same thing with the new mustang, its rediculous. Its the same reason why the Plymouth Prowler never survived-The company wants to sell them, but the dealerships want cash on top of the sticker price for its niche vehicle.
PT cruiser was selling 5k over msrp too at one time. some people had to wait months ans months just to get the wrong color and would still take it. if i has to pay sticker price then i has to tell the dealer to stick it.
theres a viper truck in our truck trader paper here. it's an 04 with 1500 miles on it. they want $45000 for it. lot better than $57000 for the brand new one.
Yea well either way you look at it the dealers are getting money. A few years ago my sister was going to buy a Toyota Corolla, We haggled with the dealers telling them that we would not pay over 12000 for the car. The came back with a faulty report that said that they buy the car for 10000 themselves. We ended up getting the same car from a different dealer for 12000 with a few extras. Now I know good and well that They couldn't afford 10 corollas, about 10 Tundras, about 10 Tacomas, about 10 4Runners, about 10 Sequoias, etc. if the corolla(the cheapest of the lot) is 10000 for them. Another example of this is the Nike shoe. Nike sells their shoes for $100-$200. I found out in class last semester(I'm a student at Auburn University) that Nike themselves pay $0.20 for each pair of shoes. Thats about 300% mark-up!!! The Dodge SRT-10 probably costs around $10000 for the dealer.
$57,000 for a truck? That's more than I paid for the roof over my head. Must be nice to be able to afford trucks that expensive.
No way I would pay that for a Dodge if I could afford it. Dodge burned me some years back with a mini-van. Never a Dodge again.

There is no way in hell the dealer only paid $10,000 for the SRT-10. Dude thats crazy. I even remember the 2000 Cobra R mustang...they were selling it for over 50 grand and still lost money on each one they sold.

I would probably say more like $40000...
If not a little more
Dealers don't make a huge amount from new car sales (they do when they add $10K to the price however)

Must be in your area.
I just looked a 3 different Mustang GTs ( loaded to the hilt) at 3 different stealerships, and they were all right at invoice.
The heck with the Dodge SRT10.....at Father's & Sons european car dealership, they have a 2005 Porche Carrera GT at a cost of $433,300.........a major WHAT THE HECK......there was a write up in the local paper about it and how proud the dealership was to be honored by Porche to get one......the number that jumped out and hit my upside the head was....ok ready for this.......................
0 to 125 MPH in 9.9 seconds.......you can't be serious?????
0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds.......HOLY CRAP
Autobahn here I come.............anyone got a half MIL I can borrow?
This dealership is in West Springfield, MA Jeez on my way home from work.....maybe just maby....NAAAAAAAA
IMO, the SRT-10 is worth it. It's the fastest and quickest production pick-up in the world. It goes 13.2@107 in the quarter. It will top 150 mph. It also has the Dodge Viper powertrain-the exact same engine and 6 speed transmission. Vipers go for way more money then 50K. Im not saying they are a bargain, but some of yall are acting like it's just a truck with 20 inch rims. (And they are actually 22"s anyway.)

Never talked about the SRT10 having 20 inch rims. Stated my father baught a 1500 club cab with 20 inch rims. And it is not 50K it is 57K. The value of the truck was not the issue. The issues was the dealer having the nuggets to charge 10K over MSRP.
