Thats kind of pushing it don't you think BigF350 ? I mean those things are like El Caminos or something. The SRT-10 is still a RAM, and built off a 1500 chassis. Its a Ram with a Viper V10, 6 spd manual, and sport tuned suspension. What you show in the pics are nothing like REAL pickups.
I know it is pushing it a little, but the Ford can tow 5000lbs, and carry 1100lbs.
The HSV can tow 3500lbs, and carry 1000lbs.
If I remember correctly the single cab RAM can't tow anything! and carry any more than 900lbs.
Which is the real truck?
You're right, BigF350, I didn't realize you were an Aussie. I have never been to Australia, and totally forgot about Holden and Fords over there. Man, I need to move there. So, let me ask you a question. How much different is the new Pontiac GTO from it's Holden counterpart? People here say it looks like a ricer, but that seems to be the "in" style over there.
From reports I have heard, the latest GTO is a belter. Aparently the LS2 rectifies the biggest problem (lack of low rpm torque).
There isn't a whole lot of difference btwn the Holden and the GTO now. With the first GTO, a lot of things were changed for the American market, some good, some bad.
I personally think the vehicle looks rather elegant, but styling is a personal thing.
I am still dissapointed they didn't build the HRT 427.
A Monaro (or GTO) powered by the 7.0l engine our of the C5 LeMans Corvette.
3335lbs and 560hp in the top spec edition.
Now that would have been a real GTO I reckon everone would agree... http://www.fast-autos.net/holden/holdenhrt427.html
Anyhow, back on the topic of the SRT10, I am intrigued, has anyone here driven or ridden in one?
The concept of a pickup with a dirty great fire burning gas engine dumped into it appeals to me.

a pickup with a dirty great black smoke belching diesel engine dumped into it appeals to me. but really, i would like to have an srt-10 but i couldn't pay for the fuel.
personaly i would preffer a lightning for 20k less it can compete with the srt 10 in the numbers its top speed is abouts 150mph 0-60 5.8 . not bad number for a small block motor. now if ford put a aluminum 427cj in a lightning or the 500+hp gt motor it would be in the same catagory as srt10 a supercar in trucks clothing.
they are good for sales cause people will pay for them. i say kudos to all manufactures trying to bring back the muscle truck.
The high-performance truck market began with Dodge's Custom Sport Special, a 1964 model which could include the formidable 426 Wedge engine - it preceded the "L'il Red Pickup Truck" by a good decade. This truck's high performance package included a 426 Wedge engine that generated 365 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque; it had a three-speed automatic, power steering and brakes, tach, dual exhausts, and rear axle struts. Not a big seller, it did generate a lot of buzz.
Well, I'm workin om my SRT-10 competitor! It's an F250 that is still good for towing up to 8000lbs by my best guesstimation. It's had a ton (literally) of dirt in the bed with no issues.
And, it ran 14.2 with a passenger, street tires and I hit the rev limiter in 1st and 2nd gear. It's gonna go mid to high 13s before it's all said and done.
I don't have $57,000 invested, but I've got a lot more invested than most people realize (especially the wifey :-)

Being a proud owner of a new '04 Lightning, my biased opinion mirrors yours.
I saved nearly 20K and gave up .3 seconds in the quarter and 7 MPH top end. On a purely subjective note; the Dodge, as cool as it is, looks like a large mouth bass to me.

YEAAAA i'm not the only one!
does seem like a lot more money for not very much more (if any) performance.
has any one seen a good heads up race between the two yet? that video that went around on the web a while back was kind of dumb.
I just looked a 3 different Mustang GTs ( loaded to the hilt) at 3 different stealerships, and they were all right at invoice.
By invoice, do you mean the MSRP on the sticker? Check on ebay under mustangs. Dealerships are on their with auctions saying "2005 Mustang GT (and convertibles also) Your Bid is what you pay above MSRP!!!". I just did a search and returned over 10 cars. MSRP sticker price is also about 4-5 grand over what the invoice is on the car.
To the above posts- I can use the mustang guys arguments here- Have you raced an 05 SRT10 Ram vs. an 05 Ford Lightning?

No, I'm talking out the door prices...
MSRP is always higher than invoice. I guess that maybe the dealer ships in my area are a bit more willing to deal??
To be honest, the bread and butter of dealer ships in my area are trucks, and cars are often way more 'dickerable' than trucks, especially in the August to Feb. time frame.
