Going back to the Hemi Cuda convertible discussion. There were 14 Cuda converts equipped with the Hemi made in 1970. In 1971 there were 7 made Hemi equipped. Totalling 21 Hemi Cuda convertibles ever made. I found these numbers in an article that I read yesterday. On of the 7 Hemi Cuda converts made in 71 was originally ordered by Centennial Chrysler, which was owned by my grandfather at the time, and still is today. He told me that the car is worth north of half a mill. A good article, and an interesting read. A guy in the articles owns 3 Hemi Cuda converts, and a Hemi Challenger convert.
Close, but not quite. Those numbers are correct for the U.S. cars, but in 70, there was one canadian car making 15 70 hemi Cuda convertibles. In 71, there were 2 Canadian and 2 Eurpoean export cars, making 11 total 71 Hemi Cuda convertibles. As of right now, all but 1 of the 71's are accounted for. I actually have the VIN's for all of the known 71's. Not sure about the 70's, but I'm sure most of them are still around. The official number quoted for total Hemi cuda convertible production is 26.
As for value, 1/2 a million isn't even close. One of the blue 4-speed 71's sold for $1 million a couple years back, and the white 71 export car sold for 2.5 million last year.
Any idea what color the one your Grandfather sold was?
The one he sold was red and white, with a red interior. It also had a VERY rare Hemi stripe down the side. (the one that gets biger as it goes further) I appreciate you bringing the other Cudas to my attention. Good job on the research.
Speaking of the SRT-10, my neighbor has several. I am not sure exactly how many he has at the moment ( I think he said 6), but I have seen no fewer than 5 different ones at his house. I know one of them is a Hennessey Venom custom Twin Turbo, another is a Hennessey Venom 650R, and one is Paxton Supercharged. This guy has the toys
To get back to the reason why I posted this topic, follow the above link and click on the window sticker pic. Note to the left of the factory sticker a added dealer sticker stating market adjustment $10,000 Simonize $549 Wheel locks $59 for a total of $57868 plus %5 sales tax $2893 For a grant total of $60761. And I am sure this qualifies for some luxury tax somehow. That usually run in the %11 range. for that would be $64223.
I would say some idiot would buy it, but it appears that it is still sitting, that's a good sign. A local Ford dealer, back in 2001, added a $3000 "adjustment" to their Bullitt Mustang and sold it for that. A year and a half later when their first Mach 1 came in, they must have decided the markup had been so successful on the Bullitt, that they would try $10k adjustment on the Mach. It sat, and it sat, and everyone and there brother drove it. Months later it was still sitting there and they were begging anyone with plan pricing to come buy the thing. Yeah, they were one of the first ones to get a Mach 1, but greed bit them in the azz. They could have sold it for sticker in a couple of hours. Heck, they may have been able to hide a $2000 markup in paint protectant and get that. But being as greedy as they were screwed that car and other Mach 1's they got in. Everyone knew their reputation and stayed away.
If the silver Ram SRT-10 does not come up, refresh the page. The main page rotates vehicles, so you may have to try several times. When I just tried I had to refresh five times. That is one of my neighbor's trucks
