Does any one know the proper bolts to use for the installtion of a bed on a f250 1982 model and also where I can get the rubber pieces. I mainly need the bolts sizes and I think that I will need eight of them.
Also how much is a f250 4x4 dually truck worth with a 95 mustang 302 with 40K on it.
thanks,
deshet
If you took the original bolts out, you know they are special. I don't know where you would bet them besides the ford dealer(maybe). When I put my bed back on, I went to lowe's and bought 1/2" carriage bolts with large washers. Then I ground two flats on the head so I could put a wrench on them. I wonder what those body lift kits use?
Greywolf dude: He moved it here from somewhere else. And for your info. The bolts in my 80 which I assume are the same as his 82, are a special carriage bolt. The head with the square shank that fits in the bed is very large (larger than 1/2"). The threaded end of the bolt is close to 1/2". It tapers down from the large size to the smaller 1/2 end. That's why I had to use large washers on a 1/2" carriage bolt. The hole on the bed is very large. And I figured loading and inloading would be easier with the smooth top of a carriage bolt.
Thank god! That makes sense....
(that it came here from somewhere else)
The lift kit I'm installing on my 82 has bolts that have a half inch shank. I think the heads are either 7/8ths or 11/16ths.
The Polyurethane replacements for the frame doughnuts are ideal because that are stiffer, and last a lot longer than plain rubber.
There will be a problem removing the old rubber mounts under the cab if they are rusted together. Just bend the wide bottom part with vice grips so that they look like taco shells, then cut out the rubber on the bottom and they should come out easily (lot's of room around them, theres a big hole in the perches).
The bed I don't think has rubber mounts, it's been a while sinse I could work on my truck.
