Does any one know if the front end from a 1986 bronco will bolt up to the front end of a 1987. Here is the story my neighbor bought a perfect 1986 Bronco and he is going to use the front end of it to replace wrecked parts on his son's 1987 model. I don't think that they bolt up but I am no for sure.
Then if they do bolt up, what is a 1986 bronco with a inline 6 and no front and no top worth.
thanks,
Deshet
Unless its a 4x4 it should have the same front end parts as any other ford truck. If its a 4x4 it should match the 4x4 trucks. The front ends should swap.. with very little to no problems incountered.
If it was me, I'd strip out the rear end, suspension parts, any surviving interior and body parts, master cylinder and brake booster, and whatever else is useful on it. Then scrap the rest.
OR - your neighbor could pull the transfer case, bolt on a twin I-beam front end, and look over the rest of the truck with an eye to a body swap. -Or a chop job.
Lastly, it could be put in the paper as a parts truck...
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Feb-02 AT 02:38 PM (EST)]Yes the parts should swap over and there are lots of other parts besides suspension that will swap, like seats, glass, door handles, mirrors etc. But if the 86' is in better shape why not keep the 86 swap any parts from the 87 to the 86 including engine if the 87 has an v8 and junk the 87' it sounds to me to be easier plus I am fond of the 80-86 body style.
The 86 (80's) body style was the best looking front end ford ever made.
Its a shame they still dont offer it. I always it was
macho enough but with clean lines put a push bar on the front and you have one mean looking machine.
