replacement carb

I have a 77 f150 super cab with an L6 and c6 and need a new carb (the throttle body on my old one cracked) I hade the standard carter 1bbl but I am thinking of replacing it with another used one but am having trouble finding one locally at a decent price (the junkyards are charging more than new ones cost and they still need rebuilt). What holley or other manufacturerer models would fit this truck?

Look up at "read more power again and again" -- the common (and not so common) alternatives to stock are discussed there.

As for finding a cheap 1 bbl carter, try ebay. That may take a week or two, and you should be patient. But they are there, and pretty common -- sometimes just carb shops that are cleaning out old inventory, sometimes carbs pulled from working trucks, sometimes units in unknown condition, but that appear rebuildable.

Search on ebay "(carter, motorcraft) yf" withough the quotes and search title and listing both.

Here are a couple I found -- see if they look good

If you are not constrained by pollution stuff, you can ty to get an earlier unit that has nothing of the later polution stuff. I am not certain what all your 77 has. Me, I like manual choke units which are a little harder to find. But you will want an autochoke unit no doubt.

Thanks, too bad the thread has nothing to do with the carbs I am looking for.

You asked what Holley or other manufacturer models fit this truck. The answer is that stock, the only solution is a Carter YF. In the above thread there should be some mention of 1bbl to 2 bbl adaptors and various 2bbl carbs that can then be used. Or replaceing the intake with an offy or clifford, which then opens you up to 4 bbl options. That's why I reference that thread, as it was not clear just how much of a "bolt up" solution you were looking for.

I guess you were asking what other carbs have the same bolt spacing as the YF. The answer is that no other meaningful 1bbl carbs have ever been mentioned in my experience. Some folks running tripple setups go with small webbers, but alone, I have never heard of a webber. Ford did use Holly 1940 carbs as replacements for Autolite 1101 and Carter YF carbs. But the 1101 and Holley 1940 carbs are both relatively rare and won't be any cheaper or better than finding a YF.

I just pulled a 1 bbl webber carb off a 1980 I6 from a f150 looks exactly like the carter except no line out to a charcoal box, is this even worst than the carter? I want to put a 2barrel but was going to use it for now
