Single Barrel Carb
He has made few changes that I see except the carb, trans, and tires. I had new kingpins replaced so I could drive it 18 hours home from Oregon and now it drives like a porsche compared to my Bronco. It also has a three speed with AOD (if it wasn't for this, the truck probably wouldn't break 50 mph) on the floor with the remains of a column shift.
Now I am home at sea level and I am having problems with the carb. I already adjusted the air idle adjustment which seemed to tune it up but then I shot a good portion of carb cleaner into the carb while running and it hasn't been the same since.
It runs fine for the first few seconds but as soon as it warms, and I apply gas it floods. I can get it to move only by pumping the gas pedal and the choke completely on but it won't idle like this. I also replaced the decomposing vacuum advance hoses before any of this problem arose (passed the three way split with spring vacuum unit located off bock above valve cove and went straight to the diaphram off of the distributor. also plugged remaining line port on carb).
What could it be and why would the carb actually run best without any air coming through the carb at all? Could the cleaner have actualy clogged a jet? What adjustments should be made beside the air idle intake and idel adjust?
I can see some fuel being shot in when the linkage is fully open but don't know if it is the right quantity. I am a carb novice and have only dealt with fuel injection if you can beleive that. I looked for a rebuild kit but there are no numbers and it only says FoMoCo engraved in the side (Ford Motor Company). All my local shops are confused and already gave me two incorrect rebuild kits.
I am just looking to get the truck to Reno 6 (hours) where I can swap the carb, intake, and headers which are waiting for me. I need to make it over Donner pass going faster than 35 though and the gas milage could hurt my wallet as well. Can anyone battle this one?:-staun
From what to Sea level?
Were the idle air screws adjusted?
Was the timing changed?

No timing has been changed but I did tinker with the iel air adjustment. It lacked power before I adjusted the ai idle adjust. Then it ran good until vacuum lines and carb cleaner.
Perhaps I will reinstall the little vacuum line splice and then screw with the carb. What can I screw with on the carb?
