Backup lights

89 bronco 351W c6

When I put her in reverse no backup lights come on. The fues is good. The bulbs are good. Where should I look next?

wires. is there power getting to the bulbs.

I would assume that no power is getting to the bulbs because the bulbs are not turning on. But the bulbs are new.

correct if no power is getting there doesnt matter much that they are new. no power is no power. I would start at the rear and work forward. the wiring should be run inside the frame .

OK. the wires look in good order, but the shifter on the steering column has been tampered with. The wires are exposed. Is this where the switch is that triggers the rear lights? or is the switch on the trans.

I have a 93 bronco and sometimes my reverse lights wont go on and sometimes times they will.. its depends on how hard I put it into reverse.

There is a silver module on the drivers side of your transmission that turns the reverse lights on when you are in reverse. If your wiring is good, then this is your problem. These are cheap to buy, easy to install.
