When I push the button to put the window down it goes about 2/3 of the way down and stops or nearly stops. I am sure that this will burn up the motor that makes the window go. Is this easily fixed? How? THe window goes all the way up easily, and also if you hit the up button real quick where the window gets stuck and then hit down again it will go the rest of the way down pretty fast......about the normal speed.
Mine does it also, just the drivers window. Last time it did this I popped the door panel off and monkeyed with the track a little and it worked great for about 4 months. It's strating to do it again but since it's still cold out I'll probably wait until it's a little warmer....don't need it much this time of year anyway. The track is fairly easy to access, I just backed off the bolts and retightened them, thats all.
I had the same problem. What I did is this. I rolled the window down all the way, helping it get there at the end. I then took a can of WD-40 and sprayed alot down in the window tracks on both sides. Up went the window and down went the window. I did that on all of the windows and they all travel up and down just fine now. I thought it might have something to do with the motor but then read this post on another site. It worked great for me. Give it a try.
Spray the entire length of the channel on both sides. Dirt gets caught up in the little hairs and increases the friction. I haven't had this problem on my X, but I have used this solution on other cars with great success.
I would think that if I did this my window would get smeared with WD-40 for the rest of my life. I think you are telling me to spray the window felts, these are the fuzzy strips that the window touches at the inside and outside edge of the door at the very top opening? Or....are you actually refering to the channel inside the door frame that the bars are sliding in?
Sorry for not clarifying that. I sprayed it in the corners of the window when the window is all the way down. Yes, on the felt areas you have mentioned. There is no need to take a door panel off or anything. Just roll the window all the way down and then spray it down the felt channels then run your window up and down. Yes, there was a little clean up for me only because I did not have the little red straw on the can. I had to use a drinking straw to help direct the WD-40 into the channel.
Same problem here, I tryed the WD 40 thing too but it only lasted a couaple weeks.
So now I'm back to pushing it down with my forarm what a pain, untillthis post I thaught it was just me, maby they should have a recall.
The WD-40 trick does nothing but reduce the friction of the window sliding up/down the channel. If WD-40 doesn't work for you, then you should look at replacing the motor.
