That it is.

Although maybe I'm not understanding the concept correctly. Was it to take the ugly Honda Element and make it even uglier? If so, then I'd call it a smashing success.

I don't know, I didn't mind the concept but it doesn't deserve the Fairlane moniker.

I think up to about 2003, Ford was trying to make their cars/trucks as ugly as possible. The last year or two have made great improvements. BUT, this thing goes way beyond reason. Sad thing is, some people will still buy one of them. I can't imagine what Ford must be thinking. You get the team together in the morning for coffee and dognuts. You conference call the other teams to see what they think, and you tell them how great they've done on this project. You end the conference call and have a big, warm, fuzzy corporate group hug, then tell each other that you are impressed by how they've dedicated themselves to this project. Then more butt kissing, then....... well, if you've ever seen corporate America in action, you know just what I'm referring to. UGLY!!!

The concept itself is fine I guess but do not disgrace the memory of one of the best cars in the world. Could this thing really sire another THUNDERBOLT, I think not.

Maybe we would like it if they called it a "Pinto"

well said guys.
chevy is going forward , and so is ponitiac, ford definately has the wrong guys working on stuff and only Jah knows what the future holds for ford with such a blunder.
guess what? i have lived in taos for 3 years and just this morning i walked my dog "tshaka zulu" and he chased a cat, when i tried to follow "tshaka zulu " into the nextdoor yard i saw a 1966 fairlane 500 with a 289 just parked there, so i knocked on the door to ask whos car and if they wanted to sell it, the old lady said yes $500.
so i ran home and got $250 to pay the deposit on the car and she gave me the tittle.this was ment to be . the car needs engine rebuild ,new interior, paint ,besides that everything is on the car and it's straight, clean,no missing chrome ,no rust v-good glass ,v-good light lenses and the thing starts right up.
lucky me i still have the 1969 351w ,cruise-o matic tranny and 9"reaend out of my boys 69 stang that i bought late last year.
i say if u'r lucky enough to find a fairlane for sale ,don't even think twise, use your rent money and appologise to u'r landlord or something.
i'm gonna post some picture soon.
i have my 69 torino coupe & 66 fairlane coupe parked side by side in my yard and i would love to add a gallaxie coupe besides them soon

Talking

This is a true Fairlane you can buy today (if you are Australian)

http://www.ford.com.au/showroom/pass...irlaneMkII.asp
https://www.ford.com.au/showroom/passenger/lwb/default.asp

The concept looks like it could have a Range Rover badge on the front...
I personally quite like the styling, but thats my personal opinion

i just saw the tv show "american muscle car" and they had the GTO and from my overstanding it's them Aussy guys comming up with some of these crazy cars that look like kia's.
i don't like .
personally i would ruther drive an old rusted out 60's fairlane with milk crates for seats and still be proud than drive one of those kia replicas.i can't overstand why don't they just go back to the old stlying and just update it just a little ,instead of trying to reinvent the thing with a team of blind rice racers without a vission.ford has has failed to revive the past here. the new thunderbirb and the 05 stang perfectly take you back to the good ol days without you having to use to much imagination to understand. what you see is what you get kinda deal.

sad to say that tha AUSSIES have already puT a "fairlane" on the road that looks like a KIA.
Jump on the net and search for fairlane G220 MKII, YOU'LL BE VERY DISSAPOINTED TRUST ME. This is the same move they pulled with the new pontiac GTO, the new one we see tday had to go through some serious rethinking ,replaning, reshapping, and redoing b4 it looked the way it is tday. what the heck is going on here !!!

With all due repsect I don't think the GTO looks like a Kia, but yes it was designed, engineered and built in Australia.

Our version of the GTO has always been available with 400hp - even with the LS1.
There was even a version with a 7.0l C5R engine that was so close to production it wasn't funny (they had completed the engineering for it).
This was going to be a serious weapon (560hp in race trim)
http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame.php?file=car.php&carnum=1488
If thats not a successor to the original Pontiac, I don't know what is...

As for our Fairlane, it is available with a 235hp 4.0l strait six, or the 300hp 3V 5.4l V8, and it is a true luxury car.

We have ALWAYS had a Fairlane since 1967, it originally started as a version of the US's Fairlane, but we then grew it from there, we never lost the Fairlane, that is its latest incarnation thats all.

This is the same move they pulled with the new pontiac GTO, the new one we see tday had to go through some serious rethinking ,replaning, reshapping, and redoing b4 it looked the way it is tday. what the heck is going on here !!!
You mean it had to be softened?
The American GTO gets softer suspension, less powerful brakes, a slower steering rack and far worse tyres than our one here, and up until the introduction of the LS2 your version had less power to.

It is not our fault that its called the GTO - blame Bob Lutz - we created it as the Monaro (an older Australian coupe).
Bob Lutz drove one, was blown away, and said "this car has to come to the US", due to Pontiacs lack of having anything really worthwhile in their showrooms, it was decided to be called the GTO (again, not by us?)

Have you ever heard of a GTO complain about their car?
Have you driven one?

I searched on that model and it's no Fairlane. Though people younger then me hear Fairlane and think of a Fairmont. I did see one I wish Ford would have in the USA, the Ford Fiesta. I remember the old Fiesta and I have a Festiva, great on gas and parking in tight spots or bad areas as who wants to steal one, yet kinda fun (in town) as it feels like a go-cart.
Now I guess it won't matter what brand your vehicle is anymore, since corporations are global, and somewhat (moving more that way) get treated as foreign countries, and they start stamping this stuff out; Honda Element, Ford Fairlane, Scion xB. Tell you what, put a big motor in these things and the perfect already in use name would be a Porshce Boxster, or the old joke a Yugo station wagon (a Wego).
I have my truck for enjoyment and hauling (Ranger 2.3, 5spd, longbed as only get stuff for house). When I have obligations (wife, etc) or travel more, then I will get a bigger passenger vehicle, for now give me an econobox and my truck, let me spend my money on tools, house projects and toys.
