Need a little computer help
How do you get rid of the previosly entered websites on the address bar. I don't like to see the addresses of previosly entered, but they are always there when I either click on the address bar or the drop down arrow. I have tried to clear my history, delete all cookies, and I have turned off autocomplete but they won't go away. Any suggestions? Thanks

once you get that squared away, and you want to keep what your looking at off there, you could also download Mozilla Firefox (free). It is a netscape based browser. Clearing all that stuff off there is easy as click tools, options, and clear all. that wipes everything. Mozilla also lacks the ActiceX feature that Explorer has, which is what a great deal of the spyware out there uses to get on your machine. I use Firefox for anything I am not sure of being a safe site. Has lots of neat add ons too...

I'm wondering about some of the advice you just got.
I am sure I can kill the history of websites visited by going to tools/internet options tab and hitting the "Delete files" and the "Clear history" buttons. However, I never use the "Delete cookies" button. I am worried that I will lose the saved passwords and log-in info that gets me unto saved/or favorite websites,( like this one).
Can someone please confirm that using the "Delete Cookies" button on internet explorer will or won't destroy my saved user name and password for FTE and other "favorites"??????????

If you delete cookies you will have to re login to FTE and other sites that save your username and password. Not a problem if you remember you passwords.
I had a weird problem with Internet Explorer yesterday. I deleted my History with Internet Explorer closed. When I went back in all my history was deleted except for the sites I visited that day. So, I manually deleted about half of them one by one. After that I deleted my History in Internet Tools again and it worked. It was strange.

It's only on acertain version of IE.. mine did the same thing but ony after i updated it to a certain version, and then a month later I updated it again, and it was fixed. Just a little bug in the system, no biggy. All I want to ask is, why were you deleting these files? But to answer 924x2150's question, if you delete cookies, or clear forms and passwords under autocomplete, you will loose all that stored information on your computer. But also you may have little trojans in your cookies sending out emails of everything you type, so is it worth it to delete cookies and have enhanced internet security on your computer, or ease of use?
