As far as I know, the milage is stored in the odometer display. For example, if you swap a Ford guage cluster (with the odometer display) from a truck with 10,000 miles and put it in a truck with 100,000, the truck with 100,000 miles would now appear to have 10,000. If this was done by the dealer, then they would have to order a guage cluster with the proper milage programed into it.

Maybe some of the light bars in the odometer display are burned out and you're misreading it? Sounds like a wierd problem. Are you really sure you just didn't make mistake reading the odometer?

If the original problem was electrical, maybe that 3rd digit (00X000) on the display shorted out and it just reads 0?
