'05 250 cc 4X4 SB. 3300 miles with no problems. Average 16+ MPG. I press re-cycle button when stopped: prevents exhaust fumes from entering cab if wind is blowing from rear of truck. I enjoy the look, ride and power. Mike

'05 F350 6.0 CC LB KR DRW FX4 2800 miles

So far so good, love the truck. I just hope it does as well as my '02 which in 90,000 miles was never in the shop for anything but routine service.
So far gas mileage is running right at 14 mpg, but that includes a fair amount of idling while warming up and mostly driving in the mountains. Hoping to do a little better on summer fuel and longer highway runs. I will probably add a Predator on the economy setting and see if that helps any. (Not that the extra POWER sounds attractive, lol)

My DEALER offered to install a stainless 4" downpipe and exhaust system on my '05. I might just take him up on it.

Why did the hubs need to be replaced? What were the symptoms?

Why did the dealer agree to an exhaust system?

My dealer has a "Toy Store" for trucks. One of the things he sells is exhaust systems, along with lifts, etc. Everything but programmers.

i like my truck fairly well, 05 4x4 standard cab 6.0...less weight is faster than crews and extendeds....#6400 ....I like that
i am nervous, it seems there are issues popping up all over on this and my previous 6.0 2004 Excursion. I have the exhaust smell on occasion as well, poor mileage....10-11 towing 3500 pounds...14 empty hwy.
weird sounds/ 1500-1700rpm whirring noise from tranny or diff. Had the 'turbo hiccups' after letting off accelerator one night.../ no power it seemed, boost was not there either... has not done it since ...attributed to cold weather and maybe being 4x4 at the time..dunno.....just intermittent issues that make me ask myself is this truck worth it? why did i buy another ford? why didnt i just keep my 03 duramax crew 4x4?
I love the looks and want an exhaust/programmer but there is so much info (good/bad), hard to decide what is best. But hey its got a warranty and its only money, right? I only have 1800 miles on this one so far and I cannot say now, "Fords 6.0 is the way to go, hands down"....
Honestly, I would say bowtie/duramax -despite its somewhat questionable looks...but hey, just lift it and its sweet.

Never a problem with my Toyota's....
The PERFECT truck in my opinion is Fords looks, with duramax/allison, Toyota's quality build, along with their dependability. There I go, A project.

Check the thread "exhaust in cab", good luck!.

2005 350 CC SB FX4 Lariet

This truck does have every option. I have a rubbing noise and vibration from steering that dealer cannot eradicate. The truck has been in the shop 3 times for bucking and jerking in the 1700 rpm range. Ford Engineers came out and put 125 miles on my truck with recorders and diagnostics equipment, they wanted to see for themselves. They had reports of similiar problems, but could never duplicate the problem. Well, the combination of the mtn passes, and interstate hwys around here, gave them ample opportunity to observe. The problem per the engineers is a pressure imbalance across the turbo under load at certian rpms. They said they were working on a fix. (Still not fixed.)

Fuel mileage is about 60% of 03 trucks, power feels like about 60% of 03 truck also. Have not had the opportunity to really pull with this truck yet, but pulling just a little utility trailer, maybe 3000 #'s, truck was really working. The 03 would pull my camping outfit (about 13,500 #'s) with about the same amount of strain.

The truck is extremely comfortable, great steering compared to the 03, and much better ride quality. It has developed some clunks in the suspension. Although snow packed streets would make almost any suspension start to make noise after a while.

How long does a typical turbo last before it is classified as worn out? I thought the turbo will outlive the engine?
