Just curious? Who is happy with there 2005 6.0? How many miles do you have? Any problems?

Hardware 01-07-2005 11:45 PM

760 miles.350 Supercab.. Happy with my first Ford and first Diesel, Only concerns are smell of diesel exhaust occasionally in the Cab and What Mods to do First.

J.Lauer 01-07-2005 11:53 PM

I too have the exhaust smell in the cab.

I have almost 6000 miles on my F350 Crew cab Short box 6.0 and have never had any exahust in the cab and my only problem has been a trip to dealer to have the vacum motor for heater controls conected.

mildman 01-08-2005 01:58 PM

I picked up my F250 on August 31 and have 5700 miles on it with zero problems. Had a '99 7.3L Powerstroke with 67,000 miles and a 2003 6.0L with 17,000 miles all trouble free. The 2003 was built Sept 2002 with C94 injectors. I've only had good experiences with Powerstrokes and the 2005 is by far the best. Getting 16mpg on winter blend driving in the mountains of eastern WA. Love it.

I wouldn't trade if for the world. They could refine some things but its staying in my driveway for a couple years.
6k Miles, Average right on 15ish a tank w/ mixed driving. 80% hwy / 20% city. Best tank was at 18 on a 200mi trip.

05 F250 XLT, CC, 4x4 FX4, Auto.. Miles are right at 2K.. It's in the shop 'as we speak', has been for a week now, and should be back early next week..

Had/has the 2-3 'upshift clunk' in the trans that wasn't there when new.. At a few hundred miles it developed.. A week ago the trans developed a growl.. Don't know of the cause just yet, haven't spoken to the tech, but something came apart.. (will post)

Steering vib/Creak in the wheel, seems maybe hydraulic, and Ford Engineering is 'supposidly' aware of the complaint.. Don't think there's a fix yet..

05 f350 > 6.0 supercab auto,4200miles.can not get over 10mpg, had no turbo psi twice for 20 miles until turbo was effective, diesel fumes in the cab on short stops, turbo is very noisy on shut down and delivered with bent bumper and minor dent in fender (dealer going to repair all next week) under warranty. Not a great truck but a good truck $46,000.00 sticker $40,000 x plan still very over priced.Have 93 k3500 Chev with 335,000 miles and still running as strong (for a 6.5) as can be.Hope this Ford lasts as long.

F-250 diesel 01-08-2005 08:43 PM

Hey talea5, where do you work, because my dads got the x-plan as well and saved a bunch of money on his supercrew

tom in las vegas 01-08-2005 09:29 PM

traded in 96 f250 powerstroke with 130,000miles, have 3500 miles on 05 f250 crew cab w/ long bed. all miles are towing 16,000 lb 5th wheel, love this truck, no problems except wish the water temp guage was accurate, waiting for a fix from ford, in summer heat it showed momentasry overheating when pulling up steep grades for a few seconds then guage drops to normal, definately guage wrong cause truck not overheating best truck i ever owned
