I have a 94 f150. I swapped my 5.0 with a junkyard 5.0. I just got it running after replacing ,the cat ,injectors ,o2 sencer ,and a tuneup. the motor still shakes like it has a fouled plug or wire. when i swapped motors should i have left the harmonic balancer with the motor it came with?????
If you still have the old one, check the engineering number, if they're the same, you need to look elsewhere. If they're different, you found the problem.
Use the 5.8 firing order, the 5.0 you got may have came from a mustang or some one put in a 5.8 camshaft . Most of the hormonic balancers are the same . thay changed by years .
engineering number on the harmonic balancers are the same but i switch them anyway to be sure. i don't know the firing order for a 5.8 i.ll try it as soon as i can get it. because it still shakes and will not keep it's idle i've also set the base timming and plugged in the spout connecter and the timming don't stay at 10 deg btdc.... i also disconnected the neg termonal to clear the computer
found that my 94 5.0 has the same firing order as the 5.8
the only thing i left to check is my fuel pressure and compression test my cylinders. i'm begining to think that i might have a bad fuel pump or head or gasket
well u said it sounded like a cylinder was missing, mayb its a bad injector...assuming this is efi, the only other cause might be the flex plate if its an auto cause ive heard that there were different weights for the 5.0's of diff yrs. or bad compression, or check the disty cap mayb sumthins jacked in there, and that wouldnt be a very expensive fix
