You guys aren't going to forget about the unequal length header thing are you? I was just dumbfounded by the rediculousness of the obvious statement, "remember guys, equal length headers are better than unequal length." I actually got dumber after reading that.
I guess here's one for ya, "Hey guys, short-throw shifters are better than long-throw shifters." There's some food for thought. As far as being 2 years through auto class, that's cool. I was there about 8 years ago, worked for Goodyear 1.5 years, Ford for 5 years, now working for independant shop. So I'm no dumbaz either.

Woah...I never said anything about your knowledge. I'm not questioning that. I know enough to tackle most auto tasks. I have to..I can't afford to pay anybody. But I will not touch a tranny, especially autos. I was going to go to UTI in houston and specialize in either hotrod or BMW, but I decided to take a career change into the church world and computers. I made a sacarstic comment about equal length headers being common sense. I am sorry, I won't be sarcastic anymore. Maybe I don't know anything about cars, I'll stick to God and Building computers.

I know a guy who went to UTI in Houston. He worked with me at the Ford dealer. What I said about headers was kinda taken out of context, but it's fair game. I said it so I'll have to deal with it. BTW, that's a good idea, sticking with God.

What about meduim throw shifters? I hear those are all the rage these days!

low, hey I think I myself got out of hand with the forum...we're all here to learn and have fun too. I actually had plans to go to UTI myself at one point...then I got married. Eventually, I hope to go back and do...something. I envy you in the area of know-how with cars...I lack the experience and knowledge to do a LOT of things with vehicles. I must admit that cars and trucks (especially older ones) are my passion...I would love to have my own shop and work on them all day fixing them up, but that's a pipe dream.

Anyways, in all goodness, you're still cool with me...and I like supercabs too!

joe, and everyone else,

My passion is automobiles. It varies, i like cars, trucks, everything. I like lifted trucks, slammed trucks, mustangs, imports, lowriders, i like them all.

Some of you may know, i'm a van wilder in that im in my 7th (final) year of college, as a business major. Anyhow, last semester I did a project where we had to develope a business, from scratch. We had to find a lot, calculate rent, licsences, fees, assets, salaries, everything from garbage disposal to pencils, pens, workmens comp, you get the idea.
My group decided to open a 1973 and prior car showroom and service center. We found a place locally with 6 bays, 6 racks. So the construction aspect was taken care of, as well as the price of racks.
We had to present the project to our class like presenting to investors. We were asking 1.3 million, to keep us functioning until break even point. Keep in mind we were going for a top-notch high class look, with leather couches (from ikea) and flat screen plasma TVs in the waiting room. We also had a 10 car inventory to start off, but it didn't cost us TOO much.....
What is my point?.....oh yeah,

Dude i wanna open a shop too! after doing this project i realize i have to go in with a friend or 2,...or 12.....and it wont be for 5 years or so, unless i hit the lotto.

It wont be as high class as the one in the project. Since it wasnt real, we didn't cut any corners. But it was a good baseline as to what to expect to pay for starting a business....

And yes, gears rock!

I would have to agree! Gears suck, and anyone who gets them MUST be a retard.

Got my locker

With 3.55 gear ratio your driveshaft turns 3.55 times for 1 tire revolution.
With 4.10 gear ratio your driveshaft turns 4.10 times for 1 tire revolution.
Your engine will have to turn more rpm to achieve the same mph when
changing up to a higher numerical gear ratio but the engine output to the
rear wheels is increased through the higher numerical gear ratio.
The higher gear ratio give the engine more leverage to turn the wheels.
