I am also wanting to up grade exhaust. I asked both the truck store where I buy other stuff, and the local Ford Dealer, and they both recomended having the muffler chopped off and going with just pipe from the cat, with a large tip. I had this same style of system on my 5.4 F150 and man, it sounded awsome. It was a dual cat back setup. I think I will just go with a single pipe in the stock location with the 6.0. I paid just over $300 for the F150 set up, what should I expect to pay now. I am looking for a nice sound. The truck has plenty of power so I am not worried about that, but will this set up support a chip or tunner. The dealership said that replacing the entire exhaust with a new cat would change the back pressure and affect the performance of the engine, specifically the turbo. How loud would this set up be. I want nice idle, good under acceleration, but still quite in the cab. Maybe too much to ask. I must say this post has been very helpful. Thanks guys, Happy New Years, Levi

Chotaw Bob hadnt done any exhaust work the last time I talked to him....
and didn't feel he needed to since he beat me at the Dyno Dyas without it

The stock pipe IS 4 inches if you just want to replace the mufller with a 4 inch pipe....

But be forewarned...
to each his own, but the straight pipe got to be too loud in my Ex....

And back pressure in the diesel !?!?!!?!

Glad your dealer is not my dealer !!!

Mine runs JUST fine and has for about 30K since I got the turbo back on....

Back Pressure! Please explain. He (dealer) indicated that the turbo needs so much back pressure and that messing with the exhaust might change that. I don't know, this is the first diesel I have had, and love it.
