Hi all,
I'm looking for a new exhaust and have decided on the MBRP brand. I have found 2 different systems and can't decide which to get.
Option one is a turbo back "muffler delete" kit. It says it deletes the muffler but does not mention the cat. I am going to assume it keeps the cat. All it says is "Complete Turbo Back system" and "THIS IS A 4" MUFFLER DELETE SYSTEM!!!"
Now for about $50 more, option 2 is a turbo back that states it "deletes the factory cat for a straight pipe exhaust." It also says included is a "3.5" Down Pipe and 4" Aluminized Turbo Back System." Does that sound right? I thought it was supposed to be 4'' all the way. Also, comes with "MBRP High Flow Diesel Muffler"
Which should I go with? I would really like some nice noise out of this beast, but I don't want anything to get me in trouble with the 5-0. Thanks for your opinions!
I don't know what state you reside on but, removing the CAT is a NO-NO. Everyone will tell you that their product is a 4incher but actually, they all come as 3 incers ID. I like the AFE exhaust system myself but I have a Banks esystem on it. It is not as loud as most of them and it works well.
I purchased a MBRP CAT delete pipe and then a CAT back set-up from them. I kept the CAT incase I need it. However it has been thru 2 PA State Inspections with no problems. Mine is a '03 and emission testing is not required for a diesel.
Well I know I'm ok with the no cat. If I get in trouble, so be it. But, I still don't know which system I'm going with. I feel like the straight pipe kit that deletes the muffler would be the same performance as the one thats $50 more.
The cat may be more restrictive than the muffler. It's 50/50 one or the other system will be great to use. The sound will be MUCH improved with BOTH cat and muffler deleted.

It doesn't matter what state he lives in period really. Rather or not the county has emission testing or not. Removing the cat without the intention of repairing or replacing is a no-no.
Oh, another q. I don't mean to hijack my own thread, but has anyone heard of the filter manufacturer Prime? I found some filters online and the guy said the brand is Prime. They manufacture for Fram and companies like that. Is he just pullin me along or is it actually a quality brand?

Says the guy with the 5" straight-pipe. Just yankin' your chain!

I've heard of the name but I wouldn't put them on my 6.0. Use only Racor made filters on the 6.0. Racor is the OEM filter for both fuel and oil filtration. Motorcraft and International are repackaged Racors.
So back to topic.... If going with a Turbo back exhaust, does that get rid of the air scoop in the pipe for the EGR? Or does it tie in after that?
I know my truck already has the Cat deleted so I could just go with a muffler delete, but it is still only the stock exhaust pipe size. will just the muffler delete drops EGT's? Or do I need to go the whole 3.5 downpipe & 4" exhaust?
