It sounds like the Ford Gold system is the way to go. I have one last question though.....if the truck is locked and I went up to the truck and entered my code into the door will the alarm go off or does the keypad work with the system? What do you guys and Rick think?

Day 2 on my AstroStart and lovin it. I have the RST-2 Timer coming, the nearest dealer to me is 120 miles away, but when it comes in I am going to have the timer installed. He has been a Dealer for AstroStart for a few years and has never had a customer ask for the timer or install a unit with one so we are both excited to see how it performs.

Best thing since sliced bread came around......

I went out a tried it...The alarm goes off unless disarmed with the new remote. If I can figure out how to get the door to disarm the system I will post. Maybe someone on here knows if it is possible. I kind of hate that the door doesn't disarm the system...kind of like the door deal.

The astrostart is now installed and working great!! I would recommend it to anybody. I got the one that has the screen on the the remote unit. It tells you what the truck is doing. You can check to see if the doors are locked at any time. Pretty cool so far.

Rick...I ordered my Golf system today and the dealer said that there is no way for the door to disarm the system. They said "THE KEY FOB HAS TO DISARM THE SYSTEM ONLY" so I was kinda upset about that. This is the first time I have had the option to lock my keys in the car and open it with a code. Oh well.....I will go ahead and get the Gold system installed so I wont get used to the keypad. I take delivery on my new truck tomorrow and I am excited. I cannot sleep tonight! I want that 6.0 power!

This is not true the keypad or the original key fob will both disarm the system if properly installed the only thing you need the new fob for exclusively for is the remote start function.

Local dealer wont install Ford Gold, they install Astrostart. Canadian Made, original inventor of the remote start, work very well, complicated to install, very reliable.

I would recomend over the Gold Start, I had in my old 350 over my new one with Astrostart. Its way better in terms of options, starts from farther, had for a year and a bit, no problems, more advanced alarm. The ford alarm is easily defeated.

Dug up an old post, my last entry was in 04. AstroStart is still going strong and I love it. More dealers around me are selling AstroStart. The big question I get is How Far? Yep 2,000 Ft range........

I had an AstroStart in my old F-150. I used the "leave the truck running with the keys removed" feature more than the remote start, lol. I'm probably going to have an AstroStart put in my 350 with 6.0 just to have that feature again. I figure I can use it as a turbo timer too, set it to shut off after 10 mins.
