Snow Blizzard

Racsan: Northeast of you getting the same weather front above the 49th, a little of this and a little of that but still a mess to clean up. Had huge puddles because the storm sewers were blocked in places. 6:00pm TV news had some lad dressed as Santa water sking down a river that passes through Cleveland, Ohio. Thick snow flakes falling. I'm fortunate to be only a 15 minute walk from anything ie: Transit Station, Shopping Mall if I couldn't drive. Done all my Christmas Shopping, I don't want to compete with Other shoppers doing the last minute thing. Anyway you Have a Very Merry Christmas / Happy,Safe,Prosperous New Year. And above all Drive Responsibly over the Holiday Season.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Here's a story for you: I have experience with Kansas winters too - I live in McPherson while I'm in school. But I'm from Columbus, OH. We are home visiting for Christmas. Wednesday, we had to go to Elyria (up by Cleveland for those of you who aren't Ohioans) for a job prospect after school. Wednesday is when the storm hit. Our wiper blades were JUNK and falling apart! Every 5 miles, we had to reach out the windows and bang the blades on the windhshield to clean them.

After my interview, Faith and I drove towards Cleveland on I-480 to get to I-71, thinking it would be better. NOPE! It was like driving on a residential street. By the time we got to I-76, we decided to make for Akron to visit a friend and get a hotel, because there was no way to get home. Yesterday morning, we took off for home (Columbus). What's normally a 2 hour trip took 6 hours! There was no traffic snarl, except on I-76 outside Akron for 45min. Other than that the long trip was because you could only go 35 - 50mph all the way. From Elyria to Akron we never went over 35!!!

I can't tell you how many cars, trucks, and even semis were off the road along the freeways. I mean flipped over, backwards, and up on guard rails. Those who stayed shiny side up were up to their headlights in snow w/that thick layer of ice over it.

Hope everyone is doing well and making good Christmas memories! For us, it's back on the road Sunday to Cincinnati for a week! UHH!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

You can keep the ice. Right now I-64 is closed - TV showed even INDOT snowplows got stuck. I-65 is backed up because tractors are getting stuck trying to climb an incline to some overpasses in Southern Indiana.

Wow, I used to live in rural wabash, IN. I know all about the drifts, it was not uncommon for us to havea 4 foot deep, 12 to 20 foot long drift right in the end of our driveway. Prairie lands suck..... As for here in oh right now, there are still some 300k without power due to ice. My father is out this morning fixing generators and farm tractors and various different family locations so we can have some festivities today.
