yup. we aren't quite as cold as that with a low of a balmy -12 for the next 2 nights, but that is WAY colder then it has been here for several years. December was one of the coldest in history for this area, and looks like January is doing it's best to match december, Also more snow then all of last year combined so far and winter is only officially 3 weeks old!!
Yeah here in Ohio we're expecting 20-30 year record lows over the next few days. Typical to Ohio though by Wednesday we'll be back to the 30's and 40's into next weekend.
Typical of the local news they're updating coming snow fall and low temps about every other hour. I'm waiting for gas prices to spike since all this impending disaster is sure to wreck our economy---for two whole days. Frickin' morons!
Cold as hell here in Calif but all rain and snow has passed by to the North before swooping on down to yall East of us.
The last time we had moisture I had more hair

Cold Hank?... I know what you guys call cold, you guys wear jackets to go through the frozen foods section at the supermarket.....LOL!
Try -11 here in early Dec.
Then into the low 60s just before X-mas...........We get some weird weather "north" of Cali.
My landlord just inherited some property in Christmas Valley, Oregon. He needed to go up there to do a few things during the cold snap we had in December but put it off as the reports he was getting said that it was -40. In Oregon...!!
Hank was right about the lack of rain here though. I can't remember such a dry winter. I went to Ukiah a few weeks ago and drove past Lake Mendocino...I've never seen it so low in the winter, you can walk across it in places. No snow pack in the Sierra either. This summer is going to totally suck for the drought.
And we do get a little cold up here too. During that cold snap I mentioned earlier we were getting down into the mid-teens at night. Right now we're hitting high 20s/low 30s at night but mid 60s during the day.

We are a good deal higher than the Willamette valley, that's where the -11 was, here about the coldest was 12*(cold air inversion in the valleys), There is virtually NO snowpack in the high Cascades this year and drought is gonna happen unless the rains return soon.
Christmas valley?...........Hint: Carry extra gas.........Pretty remote country.
I've been there...drove through on an offroad trip a few years ago, we drove up to Bend and went east about 60 miles on hwy. 20 and then drove overland down to Lakeview. Stopped at the store in Christmas Valley for a few supplies, it was the first sign of civilization(?) we'd seen for three days.

It's been staying consistently around 40 - 50 degrees here on the coast lately. Colder than crap back in Idaho - but, it usually is at this time of year - just wish my wife & kid weren't back there in that cold.
You missed the change from "Global Warming" to "Climate Change". Everything is now "climate change" related, so as to keep funding and the other more insidious and sinister aspects of this whole thing alive.
So many people think Global Warming means that the whole world will warm. Misconception as it is far, far from that. To keep it simple it means you will add water volume through melting in the Arctic for one affecting coastal areas. Second, you will move the warm and cold gradients in the oceans around when temperatures rise. Those influence the warm and cold currents, upwelling of cold waters in the oceans, and the formation and position of high and low pressure systems creating our weather patterns.
When they talk of temperature rise it is in tenths of a centigrade as it doesn't take much. Once a body of water, such as the huge amount in the Pacific is affected, then everywhere is affected. So some places get warmer, some get colder, some get more rain and some will lose their rain. Just imagine a long prolonged dry spell in the Midwest bread basket. Perhaps the monsoon no longer carries the typical water India and China expect. That alone would be a disaster on a large scale. Water, food and lack of create wars and those two countries have a growing military.
This year they are predicting a large El Nino in the western Pacific which will directly impact my state of CA. Trade winds will push that warm water east towards South America affecting who gets rain, thunderstorms and drought. Most likely means a very dry, hotter year in a state that can't handle a dry year. Many times leads to the suggestion of water rationing in Northern CA, where the water is, while that is never mentioned in Southern CA, where there is no water.
