stroker kits on e-bay

does anyone have any recomendation, for or against, Hawks crank and rods
their kit is cheap by comparison to others
I am planning a 500 plus stroker for my F-250 Highboy and have the .030 over block and a set of stock DOVE-C heads
could just build as a 9.0:1 429, but want to play some
not a daily driver but will use for towing some....about 7,000 lbs

Exclamation Hawks cranks

I have first hand experience with Hawks racing parts. I purchased mine thru e-bay at The Mustang Depot. I have a 351W and bought a 408 crank, rods, piston set. First of all they use cheap bearings so I had them credit me for the bearings. Then when the parts came I found out they use Hastings cast rings so I sent them back for a credit and got moly rings. The crank and pistons came but no rods. The paper work did not indicate the rods at all so I called and they told me the rods would be in by the end of the week. Ten days later and several phone calls they still could not tell me when they would be in so I got a credit and ordered rods from Ohio Crankshaft. They adverised the crank as balancing with a 28.4 oz. balancer and flex plate assembly. I took the crankshaft assembly to C & D machine (next door to my exhaust shop, very reputable performance machine shop and Ford guy) and had them attempt to balance the crank. I had to buy a 50 oz. balancer and flex plate and it still took two slugs of Mallory (heavy metal) to balance. Very expensive. When they cast the crank they offset the rod journals for more stoke but did not increase the counter weights. I contacted The Mustang Depot and of course they "have never heard of any problems". That is complete bull. DO NOT BUY THIS KIT! Buy a Scat or Eagle and you will be miles ahead.

Sincerely, Tim
