gee would that be a "mountian motor" or was that phase meant for one of the inferior car makers lol
any chance thats a svo alloy460 block a aftermarket crank, which in the crank makers wisdom has not made for the 400
now back to this the 385 series and fe folks use our rods for strokers or long rod combos
351w cut up our cranks for years for their strokers but no one has made any replacements yet
instead they make 351w stroker cranks why not make a a fordged 400 crank and they will still buy it and cut it down so they would sell more
with the aussie supply we should have a supply of heads and aftermarket
sorry bout the rant but i am sure i aint alone
well pistons from the 427 "budget" stroker are 264 plus shipping from austrailia
but machine work will be the cost to contend with
off center cutting the rod journals and re-condition the 240 rods and narrow the big ends..perhaps cutting a dish in the piston
was looking at the 5.4 modular rods from manley(damn expensive) but i assume they are stock size ie junkyard
.866 pin diameter so maybe could be bored to the old .912
length is 6.657 so(while not a stroker)
10.297(400 deck height)-6.657(5.4 rod)-2.00(crank throw standard 400)= piston height of 1.64 as i recall a common 351C piston height(.912 pin) most likely availble lighter that the new pistons and ford-ged
TRW are 1.645-1.647
badgers are 1.63
knew i say them somewhere but i got to put my engine back together
