My truck has just under 4000 miles on it. The last 2 times that I started it the idle has jumped up a bit after a minute or so after starting. The weather here has just started to get cold, could that be why ? The normal idle seems to be in the 600-700 rpm range (I never really looked). Today when I started the truck, which I do from the passenger side to give it some warm up time, it kicked up to 900 rpm or so (I looked), and when I opened my door I tapped the pedal and the idle went back down to normal. Does my Predator have anything to do with this ?
Depending on what engine year you have and what flash, there are some that will idle up depending on temperature at an idle. Soon as you touch the brake it should idle down.
It's a poor man's idle control.... in cold weather the motor's electronics "bumps" the idle up to speed warm up time and reduce "rolling idle" as cold oil is being used for the hydrolic injectors.
Touch the brake and it idles down...
It's normal and just enjoy the truck with your poor man's cold idle control feature. Oh, by the way, since you just found this new feature, please send Ford a check for this option you didn't know you got!!!

Mine does it all the time...even after I tap the brake if I let it idle for a while it will jump back up to 1000 again in a few minutes...
I have the 6 speed and mine will not idle up to 1000 rpm unless I have the emergency brake on. I noticed sometimes it would kick up and other times it wouldn't. Then I figured out it only did it with the E-brake on. My salesman tried to tell me this is a stock aux. idle control. Does a great job, eh.
Would this 1000 rpm help eliminate the "wet stacking" we hear about? Just curious.
If you leave it to warm-up to operating temperature, it will kick back down. That is when the Aux Idle Control comes in handy.
No worries, just enjoy the truck!
