I'm not sure if this has been covered before, but I was hoping someone could shed some light on my problem..
I have a '99 Explorer, with an intermittent Keyless entry problem. Every so often, my remote fob decides that it doesn't want to open or lock the doors!
It's just happened this evening (as I wanted to leave the car on a dark street), but when I really pressed down hard on the buttons, it did lock. It happened last week too, early one morning after I had driven it. On both occasions, it's been a pretty cold day. Perhaps that had an effect? I changed the battery in the fob, but that didn't seem to do anything.
Any ideas?? Defective Fob, Switch, Module, Receiver, Relay??
I'd really like to get to the bottom of it, before it lets me down somewhere..
Sounds kind of like the fob, if you're sure you've got a good battery in the fob. Do you have a second one? If so does it work any better? Do you have a friend with the same type of fob? If so, you could program your car to thier fob and try it out. You could also program thier car to your fob and try that out. Or if push comes to shove you could buy a fob on EBay and try it.
Probably the Fob. I have one that decided to work intermittently, adjusted the contacts and it worked fine for a while. The other Fob I have was an unused original and that one works every time.
