electrical problem- please help

I have an 86 F150 (302,auto,4X4) and I have an electrical problem.I have no running lights or instrument lights. My headlights work and interior lights work.Blinkers and brake lights also work. The fuse for the parking lights has juice but they still dont work. The instrument light fuse however has no juice to it at all.I am just wondering if they are connected somehow because both stopped working at the same time.I turned on the headlight switch and heard a pop now I have these problems.Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would suspect the headlight switch itself. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Please let us know what to problem turns out to be.

The headlight switch is noted for going out in just about the manner. I would suggest replacing the switch plug. The get hot and melt as does the wires close to the plug!

No problem! When you replaced the switch did you look at the plug to see that it's in good condition?

Thumbs up dual troubles!

I've replaced the headlight switches on both of my F-150's. The '84 burned up the plug. The '83 just had an intermittent dimmer. I cleaned all the plug blades while I had the switch out. Lots of dirt and corrosion builds up over the course of 20 years or so...
