I need an outline drawing of the cardboard headliner for a 51 f1. I plan to make a backing out of thin aluminum sheet, then apply/glue foam backed upholstery to the sheeting. It should last a long time.
Hey ffolk,
Count me in on this one - I need one for my 52 !!
Thnx
I am getting ready to pull the cab and do the body work paint guages and finshish the cab for next summer sound like a step I will be working one Ed ke6bnl
I and several others I know from other forums would give some of our bodily parts for an accurate pattern or drawing for '51-'52's! Is there any way to transmit this electronically? It would sure beat starting from scratch. Very few of the headliners come out in one piece (if they're even there).
Sorry for the delay in replying. I looked for the headliner over the holidays, but it has "vanished". I was not able to find it where I stored my truck parts. I am left to re-create the headliner; I am thinking of creating a scale drawing but won't get to it until other aspects of my re-build are completed. I hope to be able to have something by spring.
I never did get a pattern of the headliner. I called a local metal company to check on the aluminum to make the underlayment. They want $200.00 for a 4X8 sheet of .020 gage. Too much for me at this time, I'm back to square 1, or should say I never left. I did hear of one company (Rod Doors, I Believe) that is producing a fiberglass. or plastic shell for the 51. I have moved on to other exterior projects for now. If anyone has any ideas on installing some sort of headliner other that cardboard at a reasonable price please let me know. This post is most likely destened to die a quiet death in the archives. Thanks guys for your responce and offers of help, have a Happy New Years.
I'm still going to pursue avenues other than cardboard for headliiner. I will make a template sometime before spring. Keep those ideas coming on alternate materials.
Rod Doors does make an ABS plastic headliner, I purchased one a while back that is still waiting to be installed. The piece that covers the top side of the cab is smooth and rounded on the sides (like an upside down bowl), so you don't have the additional long narrow pieces just above the doors. You glue that piece to the pieces that cover the back of the cab and cover with upholsery. I don't know if they sell the pieces individually, but I would bet if you could just get the top piece with the compound curves already done, you could probably come up with an economical solution to do the rest of the back as well. I have totally forgot what I paid for the whole thing, got off of ebay last year but it wasn't the cheapest I know.
