Aftermarket headliner

My 1982 F150 did not come with a factory headliner but I have been thinking of installing one. I at first thought about going with the highliner headliner since I could mount a CB radio to the headliner itself. Then I found out that it requires to be screwed into the sheet metal headliner, I did not want to do that.

So I am asking this one question, anyone know of a headliner like the highliner with that style of overhead console pocket that will accept the mounting of a CB radio to it but would mount to the truck using holes already present?

If not, what about the highliner, would it be too weak and flimsy if I were to mount it via the dome light mounts in the back and the two sun visor mounts up front?

I dont need one with speakers, I just wanted one to improve the interior of the truck, something I could put some sound and heat barrier on the back side of and mounting of a CB radio.

If anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated. Ive been looking on here for the past couple of days about headliners and CB mounts for theses trucks and havent exactly found what I am looking for.

The weight of the CB will prevent this idea. The factory headliners are held in place by the trim around it , the two visors, and the dome light. Not enough to supprt that kind of weight.

Due to the volume of these trucks sold and still rolling, I see no benefit to "keeping it stock". This is a truck you get to have fun with.

As an aside, I'm still shocked the aftermarket hasn't come up with "plastic" headliners for our trucks.

I have the cheap speaker cover from pic, and it was in there when I bought it.

It is screwed in but there is a layer between it and the actual roof so your safe.

Also has a slot for a c and the p.o. had one in there.
If you tune your radio to play the door speakers more it sounds great, they are sharp but can't handle bass.

Not too concerned with keeping the truck orignal. It has dealer AC and no Tach.

Im just going to be having Extreme paint and body down here repaint the truck inside and out and I hate to screw the ABS plastic one into the metal headliner and then I deside I dont like the look of it and then removing it results in holes that has to be patched and repainted.

That is honestly my only concern about screwing the Highliner headliner into the ceiling.

There are some out there but they are either not too appealing on the eyes or they just wont work how youd like them to.

With how much money Ill be spending to have the truck painted I hate to put a headliner in it and then deside few months from now that I dont like the look but cant remove it because now theres holes there that has to be patched and repainted.

Be nice if they would come up with one that would blend in with the plastic seat belt retractor covers as well as the windshield trim and use those mounting holes to mount the headliner.

But I guess that would be asking for too much.
