Have 1977 F150, 2x4, auto, 460. Replaced neutral safety switch today as truck started in every gear and reverse lights didn't work. Solved one problem, reverse lights now work. But truck still starts in every gear. Looked over past posts but still can't figure out what to adjust. One illustration showed a gauge pin hole, what's that? What do I have to adjust, move, checkout, whatever, to fix my problem? I probably could live with it, am used to it now. Thanks for any help you may have.
This means to adjust it properly, you need:
1) Transmission in Neutral (chocked wheels)
2) Gear shift lever in Neutral
3) The switch with the holes lined up (use small drill bit to align it).
Once you have done all this......tighten the switch bolts up.
Finally after over a week of looking (and learning) this tells me exactly what I needed to know about how to adjust the NSS on my truck. Perfect. Thanks!

That illustration was taken from the Ford shop manual.
If you want to know anything about these trucks, I highly recommend the factory shop manuals. These are what all the other manuals are based on.
You can find paper copies on e bay all the time. They are also available on CD from several sources.
Chilton and Haynes pale by comparison.
