How can you get your Dealer to reflash your truck? I ask about it once and he said would not just flash you truck for the sake of it! said there need to be a problem like runs ruff or idles ruff and so on! I would really like the latest flash to see if will help out with fuel mileage and all. I truely love the truck and all just thought should get better fuel mileage. Only get 14-15 on highway w/no load. All advise willbe accpeted for reflash.
I was told this flash fixes hesitation at low rpm and lower gear shifting in tow/haul mode. So go tell your dealer that you have a hesitation in shifting in tow//haul mode.
Thanks for the good suggestions! Only one that would not work is the mileage one. Already tried it, said that there is no rating on a truck of this size

Ever think about changing dealers, or does Alaska only have one Ford dealer. If they check your truck and something is available that may help your milage your tech can flash it. I did not know you were dictated to milage by the dealer.
Does this sound funny to just me? Other guys on this board don't want the flash to be done and the dealer just does it and claims they will not work on it under warranty if the flash is not done. I thought the flash was done any time it went back to the dealership. Shouldn't Ford's view be that if there is a new flash it would be an improvement over the previous version and would make the truck running better and the customer happier. If I spent 35K or more on the truck and I did, and they refused to upgrade the flash or verify that I have the latest flash, I would be going to the next person in line. Sorry the customer deserves to be treated better. The dealership that I purchased mine from said it was part of their procedure to do this every time the truck came into the service department even I took it in for an oil change. They are just too far away and I prefer to do my own. Plus, no real problems that it needed to back to the dealership for work.
I would nicely demand that this be done. If you go high enough you will get it done.
Guys all the posts I read say stay away from the re-flash. I myself thought it would be a good idea to be on the latest flash. Obviously if they are creating new flashes they are fixing something. Mine is at the dealer now, should I request it?
Duke, if your truck is at the dealer and the Tech is seeing no issue, or your not having problems, you do not need to request a flash. Some with the pilot injection in the 03 were given a new flash with out request.
The flashes that came out October and December 03 fixed some things and broke some other things. At that time, it was pretty good advice to not flash unless something really needed fixing. My evaluation of the latest flash is that it is good. I haven't found anything it adversely affected and it runs great. I am glad to be a guinea pig. Go for it.
