Flash for 05

I have an 05 delivered late September. Are there any new flashes for the 05s or does Ford have all the wrinkles ironed out.

Currently the truck has 2900 miles and I am taking it in for the first oil change in two days, no complaints, just wish the milage was better.

And based on this, it means it's the "newer" "04 engine.

Wizard, there have been at least 9 flashes for the 03. Fortunately for you, the latest flash fixed a bunch of problems in the 7th from Oct 03. As far as the dealer goes, small town is not necessarily better. Ask and find out if they have a tech that is certified on the 6.0L and how much experience they have.

As for the farmer with the Predator, it says clearly in the owner manual to restore the factory original program if you take it to the dealer. Lucky for him that he had a good tech.

just got my 03 f250 6.0l back home. here is what i found out:

1. when i went back to get my truck i asked and was told that this dealership currently has 2 techs certified to work on the 6.0's..one of which was the person dealing with me. (not sure how many should be on the payroll there but from some of the posts i have read 2 techs is better then none...lol)

2. my build date is: april 2003

3. the flash they put in my puter was: 3U7A 12A650 FTE (they put a sticker on my truck visable when you open the driver's door)

4. they replaced the driver's door window motor (so the window now goes up and down once again...YEAH)

as for how the truck runs now after being flashed:

1. acceleration from a stop is greatly improved.
2. alittle louder (i like that )
3. seems to shift smoother then before both in and out of tow/haul mode.
4. might just be the louder sound but i find myself putting my foot to the floor more now (feels like it is more powerful)

gotta wait until tomorrow morning to see if the cold "startup" idle is improved over the erratic idle i have had......

also gotta wait a while to see what the MPG does...but i haven't ever been all that concerned with MPG anyway....just loved driving the truck..

overall....i'm happy with this new flash so far.....

can someone tell me if this was the newest available flash for my motor?

thx..................

That is the latest flash for the 03 6.0l with Torqushift non-Calif.

I also have an early 03 with that flash. Got it several weeks ago. I really like it. It is more like the original except a little louder but I don't really care about that.

Has anyone had an '04 flashed? Engine build date on mine is Nov. 12, 03, automatic. I looked at one of the earlier posts where a website was linked. According to this website, the latest flash for NON-California, autom., post Sept 30/03 built is 4U7A-12A650-BFA.

Any experience with this flash?

I think I recieved the new flash. I requested it and they said they would "hook me up." The only things different I have noticed is louder idle and a fall-on-your-face-stall that has only happened 4 or 5 times the first week after the flash. One instance of a strange idle that went away after 5 seconds. Maybe I picked up some bad fuel.
I cannot find a sticker with the program number anywhere on my truck and the dealer reciept simply says "reprogrammed CPU"

My MPGs are up to 15 (from 14.3) and most of the driving since the reflash has been around town and offroad.

Turbo lag seems about the same.

Ford says I need a reflash for a turbo boost check engine code!

Check engine light came on last week then cleared 2 days later on its own. Ford Tech said it stored a code due to turbo boost problem. He recommended a reflash to remedy it, but I told him to hold off. Yesterday, the check engine light came back on. I'm getting great performance and mileage (21 hwy) and hate to take the chance of hurting it. I've read many of the complaints on the 03's ... are the 04 flashes more reliable? Any calming words to ease my stress on weather to flash or not flash would be appreciated! Aug. 03 build date.

I had the latest flash done and it seems to have helped a few things. I have a 4X4 CC F350 and get around 16 mpg on the hwy with the latest flash which is pretty good based on history. If your 6.0 is quiet now it probably won't be after the flash. If you have a 4x4 you will probably drop in mileage too.

The new flash may reduce your mileage... 21mpg on the highway is great. However, is that the overhead meter or your calculations?

Most people get around 16 - 18 on the highway with the new flashes (less with the older/newer flashes)... new one brought it back up sightly.

Personally, I like the new flash and get a true 17.4 on the highway in 15 degree weather driving 70 - 75mph and some intown and extended warm-ups in the AM due to weather.

Good luck, but I would get it down and let dealer try and fix the code, but yes, I would bet that your mileage may suffer???

Good luck,

Jeff

I believe I recieved the new flash right around the time the switch to winter blend occurred. I haven't noticed much of a MPG difference or performance gain for that matter. In fact, the truck has sputtered and/or hesitated more since the new flash.

It turns out the shop foreman installed the program and not a diesel tech...next oil change I get I will specifically ask for a reprogram w/ the Ford par # listed in this forum.
