Looks like I have the RC1 flash since the RC2 came out 8 days after mine was built. When I go in for first oil change I will mention turbo lag, and hesitation on start off.
It doesn't really have anything else wrong w/ it. The turbo lag and hesitation feels somewhat normal.

I am going to gon in for my first oil change and tell the service writer about turbo lag and hesitation. (I actually experienced the hesitation on the street since my last post). I have checked all your posted flash #s and they all start with 3U7A-12A650 and end with FTC/D/E.

Is the end code a state thing or based on build date? I want to make sure I ask for the right one. I have 04/04. Thanks for the help!

Had my 04 6.0 Ex in the shop this past week for romping, cutting out, stumbling, suging etc. They called the hot line after getting 3 egr codes and were told to download the newest flash for the PCM and TCM (I think that is what it is called). The flash fixes a number of issues with the EGR valve is what I was told which Ford believes is causing my poblems. I got it back wed 12/1/04. I drove it wed night, 4 hours on thur, roughly 80 miles and today which will total about 80 miles. I have not had the issues I had before so far ( knock on wood, fingers crossed). These are the things I noticed when I got the truck back wed night:

1. At idle, the diesel clatter is a little louder and at stop lights it is a little louder. VERY COOL, me likey

2. The smell of the exhuast is not as strong as before, Again very cool

3. The smell of diesel coming thru the vents has not returned yet, again very cool

4. MPG seems a tad better

5. Power is still the same

6. While driving normally, the deisel engine clatter is softer

7. Better and faster start ups, even when it was 20 degrees this morning

This is all after the flashes. The dealer didnt tell me the revision, the deisel mech got the flash from Ford. For me this is awesome, I will continue to drive the truck and see if any of the problems come back. Good luck

The suffix depends on year, model and state. Go to:

http://www.flatratetech.com/6literpo...l_updates.html and scroll down. You will see that 3U7A-12A650-FTC is the Dec 03 RC8 flash for the 03 engine auto transmission non-California. You won't find FTE or any of the new flash designations because Ford is not putting out that info yet for some strange reason.

Still stock. 16 mpg around town. No quirks. I like the accelarator response. Power is good. No dislikes at all. I only went on one road trip. Due to weather I didn't get a reading for highway miles. I think it is a little noisier when cold. Other than that it is a keeper.

Just Had Mine Flashed A Couple Of Days Ago. I Have A Build Date Of Nov 03. 2004 F250 Psd Crew.

Well No More White Smoke In The Morning. No More Mashing Down On The Accelerator To Start In The Morning. No More Major Turbo Lag.

I Am Vey Happy So Far. Starts Easier. Turbo Lag Gone. Better Fuel Mileage, And I Believe The Engine Is Quieter.

I Recommend Doing The Update Flash.:-x22

Sounds good, I might get mine done.....I dont have any real complaints with the flash it has now, but some mornings it will smoke and run rough for a couple of minutes....then it is back to normal.....hard to tell on the turbo lag....that darn plug keeps fallin off the EGR valve....and something has possessed my truck, I think its the DEVIL....LOL. i purchased my 6.0 f250 on 10-31-03 (not sure of the actual build date but i believe it was around may or june of 03).i took my truck in today for a problem with the drivers side power window motor not working....when i dropped it off i told the tech about some of the problems i had encountered since buying it like reduced power when accelerating from a stop sometimes, very low power (like slow motion) every now and then when driving and having to turn it off and restart it to get it to run right, motor surging sometimes until i drive a few minutes...etc...and he asked me if they had ever upgraded the flash...i told him i didn't really know what he meant by upgradeding the computer and he told me there was a brand new flash out for my truck and said they would flash it while they had the truck today. the dealership where i purchased it from has ALWAYS told me from day 1 (when i asked) that there was nothing they knew about any new flashes for my truck but this tech told me that there had been at least 7 or 8 flashes released for it since i purchased my truck. i think not only will i continue to take my truck to the "small town" dealership which is fixing it today for all future repairs...i will also start purchasing my new vehicles from them also....they deserve it for their honesty and the fact that they go out of their way to explain things to you and to make sure customers are happy with their vehicle purchases. i will post an update later today after i get my truck back to let everyone know what the flash number i get is just in case it is a newer one someone doesn't know about. (probably an already known flash but i guess it is possible i might get a fresh one someone doesn't know about yet...lol...i thought i read before where you can read a sticker on the puter that tells which flash is on it...just hope i can find the nfo somewhere so i can share it with everyone here...)

ps...there was a farmer in there getting a problem with his 6.0 looked at when i arrived and he had used a predator on his...he was unaware that they might give him a problem with the warranty but the tech noticed his predator box laying on the back seat and actually asked him if he had anything changed on his truck...when the old guy told him he did have it changed the tech advised him to flash it back with the stock prog so he would not have a chance of being screwed with by anyone...the tech told him about some problems ppl had had with warranty work there recently (not trouble from them but trouble from ford) for having upgrades on their trucks and gave him the chance to change it back so he would be ok...now i thought that was pretty nice of him to do....

Flash Number

After getting home from picking up my truck from the shop, (they repaired a few problems mentioned in another post), I noticed a sticker which had the following numbers: 4U7A-12A650-BGC. The sticker also has: Change Authority SSM17048. From reading these posts, I assume this is a "flash". Can anybody tell me about this flash? Is it the latest? My truck is a 2004 6.0 truck date of 10/04, (not sure of engine date yet), 3000 miles.
Thanks.

Thanks. I made my self into a pretzel and found 3 tags. A yellow one which had 10/03, a white one which had 10/03, and another white one which had a bunch of patent numbers. Does this help anybody answering my post, above, about the flash?
Thanks again.

Exclamation OOPS! Wrong truck date

On my post I made a mistake on my truck date. It should read: 10/03 not 10/04.
