Unhappy 351M distributor problems

Hey I have a 1979 1 ton dually with a 351M engine.
ever since we bought it in 1982 it has been a good engine but it heats up awfully quick.
I checked the timing and WOW WAY OUT ~ unfortunatly the distributor is stuck to the block/intake. It is aluminium body thats galded to the cast Iron... been soakin it in penatratin oil once a week for months. an it's still stuck
any solutions or do i get my sledgehammer out ?

I would hope it will break loose but I've even use 4lb hammer an oak block STILL STUCK but I didnt smack the you know what out of it.

Cool 351 distributor problems

Yep I knew I would get a reply like that !! It is funny ! I would've said the same exact thing myself ! !
I did by the way loosen the clamp bolt
My Dad asked me the same thing when I told him that it would'nt move....

I just might try an strap wrench an see if it may break loose.

Thats what happens when aluminuim an cast iron have direct contact !

I had one I finally had to use a blunt chisel on the flange right above the block, it finally moved enough to let the panther **** work.

I wedged a flat nail puller under the dist flange and hammered on it until it came up a little, then hit it with penetrating oil.

I've had to use a little heat before not a lot just a little and then take a chisel and tap around the edge.

You might try what's worked for me once or twice. Hit it with a good
penetrating oil for weeks ahead of time. I'm not a big fan of WD-40 as a
penetrating oil. Drying out distributor caps, yes. But not as a penetrating
oil. Use B'Laster or equivalent. Then, get the engine really warm. Don't
just start it and use it for a few minutes, but at least 30 minutes. That way
ALL the components are hot. Then get a can of freon and shoot the freon
on the stem of the distributor until the can is empty. This will cool the
stem and hopefully shrink it just a little bit. Try turning it with your strap
tool or hitting it with the rubber mallot or dead blow hammer.
If this method does not work, see of you can pry up on the distributor
instead of turning it. A combination of all that I've posted should do it.....

I used a slide hammer on mine...and it took a lot of hits to get it loose.

You can do a google search for "P'blaster penetrating oil". It stinks, but
it's good stuff. I think an equivalent to it would be Kroil. P'blaster is available at
NAPA, Wal-Mart and a lot of auto supply stores.
However, I have heard that it is not available in Canada. Any truth to that?
