Thanks Ford!!!
One word BS!!!!
It takes 5 min to get the code for the door and the same for the key code, I watched them do mine. From the time they plugged in to the port to the time I drove off was 5 min and he showed me the master key code as well as the keyless code.

I don't have my door code. we bought the Ex used and the dealer did not know the code. Is the dealer the only way to get the door code? Isn't there a way to just program another door entry code?

You need the original to program a new code then the new code is only good untill power is lost and the original will always work. The only way to get the original corde is from the dealer.

From: Nevada,
Im with ya daimon, i didnt want to argue, but i have a cousin who is a tech at a ford dealer, 500 miles away, and he says it takes under 10 min to program keys and retreive the codes. yes the dealer tells you an hour, but that includes the time it takes to get into the shop!! we also tell customers and hour but total "hands on" time is less than 10 min. Has anyone called ford customer assistance and inquired about this????

I pulled the radio yesterday, thanks for the coat hanger tip Robert, couldn't see the module at all. Not sure what I am looking for and where. It does look like ten pounds of #$@% in a five pound bag back there. I sure don't want to give the dealer any money, we all know we paid plenty for the Xs already. Any more ideas or tips?

Angry No luck!

I, too unbolted the GEM module that's stuck up behind the fuse box after looking all over the place with a mirror. No stickers or numbers on the module. I opened the box up like a nut. Some numbers inside, but no code.

Now, here in New York, dealers want $150 and there's a two month wait for an appointment to get that code read. I'm sure they use the Star machine, which is the same that a locksmith used to program a second key. The unit actually takes about twenty minutes because there is a time delay to unlock the security code when making keys. Unfortunately he didn't know how to get the door code and wouldn't let me use his decoder to follow the manual directions.

Looks like I have no choice but going to the dealer, or plopping down a grand for a used STAR machine... would be a handy tool. Seems like tou can't diagnose much without it...

Food for thought!, can these power chips (Predator & Hypertech) read these codes?
