So we just put on new taller leafs on my 00' X. Everything went well but we had to leave the front sway bar off because the links are too short. My question is this - Would I see an improvement by going with one of the aftermarket sway bar kits or should I just get longer links? Either way where might I find these products at a good price? I have been doing a bit of searching but can't find any extended stock links anywhere, yet. Thanks for your help!
go to Hellwigproducts.com and read--then go to J.C. Whitney and buy--these bars will make an excellent handling improvement for your ride stock or modded.
Just make sure who ever installs the front sway bar that they have the bend pointing down (like a "u") and not up (like a "n").
I did not realize this at first and during the first 2 weeks the noise I heard was due to the sway bar was rubbing the front pumpkin AND THE SWAY BAR WAS DENTING MY OIL PAN CAUSING AN OIL LEAK!!!!
Yep, had to replace the oil pan, pick-up tube and re-install the front sway bar correctly.
The only thing that I'm wondering is how much better an aftermarket unit will work? The stock on is massive and I really can't imagine that the aftermarket ones could be much stiffer. Sucks about the oil pan, there's nothing quite like spending money on your truck just to get it back to normal. Like changing starters or alternators, great 3 hundy so my truck will run again rather that 3 hundy for a new amplifier or throttle body, exhaust, etc.
Sorry for taking dso long to respond, been busy and all that.
I did both front & back at the same time primarily to get an even suspension response.
When you have 2 anti-sway bars that are not matched for the application, you could end up with a suspension problem, such as lifting a wheel because the back is stiffer than the front.
