[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-15-03 AT 01:13 PM (EST)]does anyone know if the wiring for keypad keyless entry is in the harness and the programing in gem module on a 2003 F350 crew cab?? it would seems that is the same harness/parts as the excursion. have not removed door panel yet, just trying to save some time. any info would help!! this truck is one of my finest 4x4 rides yet, this would make much better!!! when i picked up my truck, included in the owners info was a factory keypad keyless entry code card, dealer told me that all trucks with keyless have that card regardless if it has keypad or keyless remote entry???
Your salesperson's right- ALL vehicles with remote keyless entry come with the card, whether it has the keypad or not. Don't ask me why Ford does this, they just do. I always try to get rid of that card before the customer sees it ("well, if I have a card, then it MUST have a keypad somewhere, right?"). Before you go trying to wire in a keypad, Ford now has a WIRELESS keypad that you can easily add to almost any vehicle- check with your dealers' parts department.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-15-03 AT 10:55 PM (EST)]did some 2 hrs research at the local ford dealer, the VSM (veh. security module)is the same as the excursion. the card i received with my truck should go with that module. the wiring is NOT in the super duty f250/350, but it is only 6 wires needed from the module to the door keypad. also a jumper harness that connects to the keypad to the door harness on the excursion is available (good spot to splice). going to pull out the vsm from my truck and install it in neighbors excursion and see it that code works. i will keep everyone posted. if this project works will cost less than $100 in parts. the keyless entry kit ford offers is a remote type.
