Anyone ever find the module that is supposed to have the keyless entry code on it? I have a 2002 Excursion PSD, and cannot locate the module.
I have read that some models are white, and some black. Any idea what size it is, or where on the excursion?
I hate to pay for something I can do myself.

Your screwed! It is behind the radio on the firewall but mine did not have a # on it. It takes 4 min to pull the code so the dealer is screwing you for 60 - 80 bucks to pull it but unless you have a friend in the back who will do it there is no other way.
Now if you want to look, pull the radio and you will see the module on the firewall but if you have large arms like me you will not reach it. I am told the # could be on the back side of it but no one here has found it as far as I know. I did not remove mine fto check the back because I could not reach it.
Trust me I tore the truck apart looking 40fords pointed me in the right direction and I found the module but well as said no #'s. I had a post either in the EX or F250 form on this 2 months ago. It is not in the location of the explorer or Expy.
You were right. It is behind the radio.
I was able to lay in the floorboard, and use a mirror to see it.
The box is black, made by Bosch, and has three electrical plugs on the bottom.
The label was on the outside facing the radio, and you should be able to see it from the outside with the radio removed, but there was enough room to get a mirror in from underneath on mine.
The sticker has a lot of other writing on it, and the code was not obvious at first.
Now, if I can figure out how to get another ignition key(I only have 1).
Hope this helps,
Paul Low
I've been wanting to find out the keyless entry code myself and I did what you guys said about removing the radio and using a mirror to find the code. Worked great! I'm all set now. Thanks alot guys!
When I bought mine, everyone said they had never found the code on an X, but that was not going to stop me.
Glad you found it where I did.

I started an earlier thread on this subject, I had heard it was inside the door, somewhere under the door panel. WRONG. Will check what you guys are talking about. Question, how hard is the radio to pull?
If you don't have the radio pullers, you can use a couple of small screwdrivers. There are 2 sets of holes on each side of the radio. Push the tool into the holes and slightly bend the tool out away from the radio. Without the pullers, it will be a bit of a problem, but it can be done. Good luck.
i used a coat hanger and bent it into 2 square shaped forks with the tines bent to match the hole spread on the radio, to get the radio out you only need to insert it about an inch into the radio. you will feel when you hit the spring latches. dont force it. the spring clips "or latches "are grabing the side of the dash slot when the radio slides in and just a couple of light manipulations to move the fork tines inward towards the radio body is all it takes. DONT push the tool way into the holes it will make everything lock up and wont work.
once you get the radio out it will be easier to see how they work and the next time its a snap.
hope this helps
hey everyone, great responses!!!
i just spent the last 3 hours looking all over for the ##### in my 2000 x there is no module behind the radio, the general controll module is on the back of the interior fuse block. so i unbolted everything, separated the two and even opened the cover on the module and guess what NO NUMBERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRR RRR, i think it is crazy that ford allows their dealers to hold people hostage for 70+ dollars for a 5 min repair. being a foreman for a different manufacture we charge $25 to program keys, clear customer induced ck eng lights and we program remotes, and reset radio codes for free, yet the ford dealer will not even extend a professional courtesy and cut me a price break to retreive the code, love the product but the customer service needs some work!!!!!!!!!!!!
If anyone has any more suggestions PLEASE let me know.
Thanks R.
I was told it takes Ford close to an hour to run through all the codes to get to the door code, this was told by two Ford dealerships.
I lost my second key for the 00 X and was able to buy two PATS keys off Ebay for $20 had them cut for a $1 each but was told I would have to bring the truck in for them to reprogram the new keys to work in the ignition, the dealership said they could get the keys reprogrammed and retrieve the door code in an hour, $70.
