Just bought a very clean 1994 F250 with 37,000 miles on it. Clean as a pin. Auto, 460 . But, I have a pop and creaking sound or snap sound coming from under the cab. I looked at the ball joints and tie rod ends. They look good. Kind of sounds like a frame bolt or cross member bolt.
my 1993 F150 had the same type "popping or creaking" noise since it was new up until about 6 months ago. checked everything under the cab, around the tranny and mounting and the front end parts and never did find the source of the noise. it finally just quit making the noise. everything seems to be alright. dunno what it was. welcome to ford!
My truck had a poping/clunk sound when I hit a bump or hit the brakes. It was the Radius arm bushing's. They looked worn so I ground off the heads and drilled out the rivets. It tightend up the stearing and quieted it doun.

I have and 88 f250 which was driving me crazy with its popping sounds going over speed bumps, tight turns and generally whenever it felt like it. Finally tracked it down to be the transmission crossmember when I repeatedly drove up on a wood block with one front wheel only and had a buddy find the source. Be careful doing that. I then put 2 extra 3/8" bolts through the crossmember and frame on each side. A year has gone by and the popping noise has quit even though I off-road quite a bit. Might be the same problem you have. Worked for me.
Popping noises can be caused by SO many things. Check all the suspension parts, front and rear, U-joints are a popular one, and especially sway bar bushings on the older trucks. They like to rot out.
