Just today found that this Alabama chapter was starting I hope some of you are intersted in older Fords especially flatheads (L-heads). I have a 48 or so pickup, rusto-rod project that has been slow going for a while. I drive a 79 LTD as work car, (low mileage, but parked outside under the gentle Alabama sun for years) and now have gotten a 91 Escort GT 5speed. I look forward to following the threads and the banter on this site. You can find me in Zip City, roughly the NW corner of the state. ( Don't look it ain't on yo map!)
just start posting subjects of interest, daily conversations... get more bamer's to post...and the biggie ...get a leader elected.....get friends that you know who own fords to join....it takes some work in the beginning but well worth the effort...
I would get some of my friends to join but there is a problem.I am the only Ford owner/lover.Everyone else likes Rice,Bow ties or to get Rammed......and they all say how much trouble my truck is......?!?!?!?
Anyone here go to Montgomery Motorsports Park? It's a quarter-mile track that has test-n-tune runs on Fridays (although they have had them on Tuesday too). It is off Northern Blvd. in Montgomery. Here is the link for their website:
My son and I have gone there a few times this past summer. Test and tune is $10 to watch or run. I use this to dial in my ride. The quarter mile will tell you what's wrong (or right)! Best time for me was mid-13's.
Let me know if you go to MMP and maybe we can meet up there!
I also forgot to mention, there is a cruise-in at Flips on the first Saturday of each month. Classics and cool rides usually show up. There are a few really cool Ford Trucks there. A buddy of mine has a really great looking 71 F-100.
Flips is located on Vaughn Road in Eastern Montgomery. Let me know if any of you want to meet up there!
The great thing about living in Alabama is you have 10 months of great weather to cruise. The other two months are just too hot (July-August).
Hey I am a proud Alabamian and a newby on this site. I have always said Alabama is not the best place to visit, but it is the best to live. Great hunting, fishing, people, and most importantly great (Ford) trucks.
