Here's what I Know..Have a '06 6.0l from the manual and the dealer it says warm up the truck 3 hrs before start in 20 deg and below. The heater draws 17.3 -17.6 amps. I have a 20amp with 12-2 wire dedicated circut outside plug. It is not a GFI so it can't pop due to moisture and screw me in the morning start up. Also have a 20amp timer and use a 50ft 12 gauge extention cord so I don't loose any amps. A lot of the problems people are having with not hot enough is the alotted time and under amped outlets and cords. It is a world of difference when I plug in from when i forget and don't. And a side note to "Smokin'" -- I think most will agree --You really are Smokin HOT!

That seems kinda high, are you sure about that number? That's about twice the power of the 7.3 block heaters.

BTW, Welcome to FTE!

That number is extremely high. The block heater on the 7.3's is only around 800 watts (6 2/3 amps). I could see taking 10 amps off your readings and they'd sound right.
