Bronco II Speakers

What are the sizes and wattages for the factory dash and rear speakers for a 1987 Bronco II?

i know its 3.5"-4" in the dash and depending on where they are either 6x8"s in the far-rear side panel or 5x7"s in the mid-rear side panel. so basically 5x7/6x8"s will work.

your looking at a total of 30 watts peak all around, at least that what mine had, and it was not a premium sound type deal.

Okay... cause when I got mine the door speakers were removed, leaving the two rear and two dash, and there's a steel plate or something covering the holes on the door. Anyway, the previous owner put in a newer stereo system (Alpine CDE-7820) in it, and the face says it produces 25 watts X 4 (and I've been told that the power on head units are underrated and that it's prolly 10 X 4, but I dunno), but it still has the factory speakers. The rear ones sound good until you get 'em loud. The dash ones all around are fuzzy and rattle no matter what volume. So I was wondering, should I get speakers rated at 25 watts each for 100 watts all around? Or should I install an amp to boost the power (like, getting a 300 watt amp for example) and get 4 speakers at 100 watts each?

skip the dash speakers, they're not even worth replacing since there so small and will get baked from the sun in a few years. go for a component set in the doors, a set of 6x8s in the rear of 6x9s in boxes and maybe a small sub. get an amp for the speakers and yes, ur right about the HUs rating being under rated.

Where the door speakers go is a big steel plate or something covering it for looks (I didn't put it there), and if I take it off for speakers it'll leave ugly screw holes in the door panel. I just want new speakers for the dash (don't care about the sun beating in 'em) because if I don't I'd have to live with rattling hell from 'em, and I just want a couple new rear speakers, but I also want an amp to bump up the boost so I got a good amount of power, plus about 100 watts at each speaker. So.... would it make sense to get 4 new speakers at about 100 watts each, and install a 300 watt amp?

I gotta agree with Optikal about those dash speakers. If they are 3.5", they arent worth the time. The sound they put out is about 300hz and over and its difficult to find ANY quality sounding 3.5" ers.
Honestly, i would get a good set of components installed up front and forget about the rears. You can fade the sound like 85% to the front and a quality set of comps will make your ride *sing*. Run the rears of the head unit, get a 2 channel amp for the comps/or get a small sub and get a 4 channel amp(bridging the rear 2 channels for the sub).

Just my opinion, but if u do go another way, let me know and i will still try to point you in the right direction for speakers and amps.

Good Luck !

Component sets are a speaker and tweeter separate from one another with a real crossover for them. Most are set so they dont try to play the bass a sub should play leaving you with a better sounding set up. Here is a link to a 4" component set 4"component set

ok, component speakers and a seperate mid-bass driver to handle the bass the sub cant and a seperate tweeter for the highs. some high end sets also have a seperate mid-range driver also. they have a crossover to seperate the frequencys and ususally can handle a decent amount of power.
