Hi I am new to the page. I hired a "friend" to rewire my 53'
F 100. He quit in the middle after stripping all the old stuff out. I have electric wipers and heater (6volt). everthing else is 12 volt. could somebody tell me how to hook up the ceramic looking fuse block on the fire wall to these units. or what to do. Thanks a lot
Oregon Bob
I believe you need to run 12 volt switched lead to one side of unit and other end goes to your heater or wiper. I have one of these on my truck running an old Pontiac box heater. Been using it for ten plus years no problem. Remember, those little jobbers get hot!
Welcome Oregon Bob! Sounds like you need a wiring diagram ASAP!
Have you done any automotive rewiring before?
There are aftermarket harnesses available, or you can build one yourself,
following the diagram, adding voltage reducers everywhere 6v components
still exist. The "ceramic looking fuse block” is a ballast resister
and is an important ignition component, and must be wired correctly
or damage will happen.
What part of Oregon are you in? I'm near Springfield..
Oh, what motor is in your truck?

thanks for the quick response. I have a new harness that is half installed, not original replacement as the truck has been converted to big block 460, with power steering, disc brakes,
sub frame (73 t-bird) etc. I want to keep it looking somewhat original looking in the interior though. I will work on what you recomended. I live in Portland. Thanks again.

Don't let the wiring intimidate you, its really not so bad. sit back and study it for awhile and try and visualize where you want the wires to go and how you want to route them. break it up into systems and tackle it one piece at a time. You'll be suprised, it will all fall into place in no time.
