Jakebrake, I understand what you're saying. But the reason I will never buy any Firestone tire is that they lied through their teeth and risked my family's life. Anybody old enough to remember the Firestone 500 tire? Back in '76 I had Firestone 500's on my car. Four out of five failed at speed. Luckily I controlled the car each time. Everytime I went to the Firestone dealer I was told I had hit something, or the alignment was the problem, or I didn't have them inflated properly, etc. After the 4th one failed, I knew something was wrong. I approached the dealer and was told there was no problem, it was my fault somehow. I wrote Firestone about the situation and was told there's nothing wrong with the 500's. Right! What they didn't say was that they had major litigation going on because of the high number of deaths due to failure of Firestone 500 tires. The government finally had to step in and Firestone was forced to admit they knew they had a tread weakness problem. The 500 tires were pulled off the market. Look in the historical records to find out how many people died because they covered it up. Now, today, we've got more problems and they're saying it's our fault. We're not inflating them correctly. We're abusing them. Ford's the problem. The problem's overblown. Etc, etc, etc. Sounds familiar, doesn't it. Do I have strong feelings about Firestone? You bet!! In '76 and '77, my wife, my two daughters, and myself could have be killed if I had lost control during any one of the four failures. Fool me once, your fault. Fool me twice, my fault. You want to buy them, good luck.
