Depends also on where you are going in Houston. I go often. Usually to N. Houston. can do in less than three hours.
Then sometimes it takes 3 hours get from N. Houston to S. Houston.
Hey PSD...I figured you'd be going to M.I.T. or some other big shot engineering school like that.
Yeah. MIT. Right
I have the SAT scores but not the GPA...
I would never make it in Massachussets. I would end up in prison for killing some Kennedy-lover. Downtown Atlanta is bad enought, but downtown Boston I cannot tolerate. The so-called "order" of engineering schools (in rank) is CalTech, MIT, GT, and Rice. I most likely not be accepted to either of the former, nor could I stand attending. Georgia Tech nostalgically is a better school, however I am beginning to lean strongly toward Rice. I think I have a better chance of getting accepted and I would most definatly enjoy living in Houston more than Atlanta.
BTW PSD: Great Dove hunts in Texas. Season starts Sept. 1st thru Oct 31. (2) of the (3) dove zones here. South Texas starts latter and ends latter. If you never popped at White Wing you will be in for a big surprise.
Ok got to drive the Beast a bit today. Maybe a little quieter but hard to tell with these old time R & R ears. Seems to lessen any dead pedal. Not that I had much problem to start with. Actually seems to be somewhat more responsive overall though.
A real funny and I don't know why thing? The A/C seems to work better. Is it just because our local humidity is a little lower today?
Is it possible that unplugging the EGR could impact A/C in any way?
I also have noticed the A/C thing. I can't run the fan long on high with max A/C, I'm freezing. Thought it was just my imagination until kw5413 brought up what I was thinking. Maybe i'm not going crazy after all. Wonder myself if somehow Ford has the compressor tied in with the EGR that senses the engine load and cycles the A/C. Also noticed when sitting in traffic idling the A/C just keeps getting colder not warmer like it used too. Very interesting.
kq5413, it has been in the mid 90's here for about a week and the humidity is unreal. I can get in my truck that has been sitting in the sun all day with the windows rolled up and in 10 minutes I have to cut the A/C fan down, the truck is cold. Reminds me of the days of the good ole' R-12. I'm not complaining though!
I disconnected my EGR (wire only, throttle plate still in) an noticed a significant reduction of idle noise. Sounds about the same above 1200 rpm. The other thing I noticed right away was an increase in idle creep (foot off the brake but no go pedal). It wants to go instead of sit there waiting for me to stick my foot in it. And due to the faster spool up of the turbo, there is a more linear responce to the gas pedal. All I know is so far this is a good thing! With the EGR disconnected, are there any long term issues or different maintanence items to be aware of. Also, any thoughts from the FTE brain trust on protecting the loose wire or EGR incase I want to put it back on in the future or Ford spots it but I want to make it look like it was not intentional incase it goes in for service. I ready yet to give up on the warranty and would rather limit my battles with Ford.

The only long-term effect is that it will leave codes. You can clear these by disconnecting the battery, or with a tuner and scanner. On the pro side, it will make for a cleaner burning and longer lasting engine.
I disconnected the EGR on my 04 F250 this morning, following the posted directions. It appeared that there were no problems in doing this. After startup, truck ran fine with no indications of any problems. Drove around 5 miles and turned it off. When started truck again, the Check Engine light came on and would not go off. Tried shutting truck off and starting again, but light remained on. Reconnected EGR after shutting off truck. Restarted, Check Engine light still on. Drove home and disconnected batteries. Reconnected batteries and restarted truck, Check engine light still on. Shut off and restarted truck a second time and check engine light went off. By the way, in the instructions for disconnecting EGR it says that it is a four wire connector. On my 04, it is 5 wires. Could this be a problem?
