I had to try it. Seems to be a little quieter while idling, louder during the first 20% of pedal, and the turbo definitely spools up quicker. June 03 engine build. Also, my occasional "warm-start-rough-idle-poof-of-smoke" is gone. I just now filled her up to measure a full tank's performance. I am heading on a three hour trip to the beach Sunday, on Thursday I return home to get the boat and pull 3 more hours for a fishing tournament. I will post the results. I am very pleased with the results so far! Thanks.

Good to hear the news. I am beginning to think that the effect of the disconnection may be in direct relation to the flash you guys are running. Can everyone who has disconnected it tell me what flash you are running?
Well, I disconnected mine right after my last post and it is definitely louder. (stock) It is also louder through the first 20% of pedal as Hot Shot mentioned. Doesn't bother me though, the louder the better. If I had wanted a quiet truck I would have bought a gasser. The turbo sounds terrific now, can really hear it.

Build date is 3/04 no flash change from factory.
F-350 DRW auto 5 spd, edge w/ attidude, 4" hog exhaust, afe progaurd 7.
niose level hard to tewll if different(4" hog) i think the most noticable feature is minimal DEAD PEDAL.
I LOVE HOW THIS TRUCK RUNS!
I plan on doing a video of of it connected and disconnected to really compare the noise factor on mine... will let u know... but know i can't post the video here..

Did your noise change enough for it to be obvious even through a video camera mic?
this is a excerpt from "dieselmans" ford bulletin page:
Normal EGR Valve Operation--Open at Idle:
Trucks built after 9-30-03 and those truck reprogrammed with WDS version 27.9 or higher will now have the EGR valve open at idle. This is to reduce engine noise at idle that has occured from removing the pilot injection. When diagnosing the EGR valve it is normal for the valve position value (EGRVP) to not change until the EGR duty cycle is greater than 30%. Broadcast Message 1067
Well, now this raises an interesting question I haven't seen covered yet...I have a 2004, which means that (presumably) my EGR valve would be open at idle. So what is the default, non-powered, position of the EGR valve...this would be ignition off, thing just sitting in the driveway. Is that open as well? Or does the thing default to closed, or what? Because if the default is OPEN, then unplugging the thing would have exactly the opposite effect as is desired, right?

I am confused....
It defaults to the closed position. This is why you MUST ensure the ignition is off when you disconnect the valve.
