Yeah, now you have fresh Oxygen rich boost flowing into the "still burning" REALLY HOT exhaust gas (at least on a gas engine, and I presume on a diesel also). And that extra oxygen is like a fuel on it's own. So now you have partial combustion actually taking place in your turbo.
I guarantee if you did that on a GAS engine you would be blown away by the temps you would see. As for the diesel, like I said it's just theory then.
I'm as interested as you are to see how it works, however I guess my experience and education make me a skeptic.

i feel the same way, you will actually see some combustion take place in the exhaust manifold. on gassers at least, and this really spins the **** out of the turbo giving even more boost.
Well I did a lot of reading Wow 49 Pages LOL any way I was having trouble once she got hot It would have no get up and go, then all the sudden it would take off.
I cleaned the turbo first cause I only had the truck a week , and when that didnt fix it I pulled the up pipe to the turbo and the EGR cooler Tube and Welded a plate inside where the cooler tube meets the up pipe then put it back togeather all is well now.
And I dont get all that extra heat in the cooling sys. and no CEL light cause the EGR is still hooked up.
This may be a way for you guys with the CA trucks to get around it.
By the way thanks for the Info Guys Im new here But Not new to these trucks, After all but mastering the 7.3 I thought I would buy a 6.0 and start over.
My truck Is a 04 Built 7-03 Ps I didnt have a Plate in the intake.

On a recent post the guy mentions that you can get a new pipe or use an SCT from LI... does that mean that if I have the xII (i do) that I don't need to physically unplug the EGT? My tunes were done by Matt before he left... I think. Not sure if that matters. Just don't want to mess with un-hooking it and maybe getting CEL issue if it is already disabled by the tune/computer.
Anyone know for sure? Matt, are you out there? haha
Matt is definitely still here. He's no longer with his former company. He's on his own, busier than a cat covering his business. His new company is www.spartandieseltech.com and he's doing support for the old tuner business as well as the new he's generated.
Ed,
Most people who know to ask for it get their tuner to write tunes that turn off the EGR valve. Some custom tuners out there turn it off in almost every case above a certain tuning level. This is good, but the EGR is insidious and can continue to carry out its evil plans even from the grave! Certain engine conditions can open the flapper and force gasses through, even though it's turned off electronically. The only sure way to kill the beast is to physically block the exhaust flow via welding, blocking or removal.
On an 06 your check engine light will come on after unpugging the EGR. Been there done it.
Thanks! I just firgured that out. I unplugged it this afternoon and saw that it was on. Oh well. Plugged it back in. Not really sure the real benefit with it unplugged anyway. Thanks again!
there are a lotta pages here to read so someone might can just shoot me a pm to the question if already answered. exactly between what production dates did the 03's have the egr throttle plates?

Anybody know how to reset check engine light? I unplugged my EGR on my 06 and the light came on. I dont have a programer yet and would like to not take it to the dealer for this. Thanks!

Unhook the batteries, negative first, turn on the light switch for 10 minutes, and reconnect your batteries. This should clear your EGR light IF you reconnect your EGR. It won't stay out otherwise.

Thanks! It actually ended up going off by itself. I guess it just needed time to reset after I plugged the egr back in. Go Hogs!!!

It may very well have gone off, but it probably still has a code stored. Disconnecting the batteries will erase the code.
Yeah--Crazy football year for sure. I'm looking forward to being HOME for the holidays. If you see a gold 250 with red hog magnets on the tailgate and an NC license plate that would be ME--lol. WOOOO PIG SOOOOOOIE
